Heinz Soups

How we use Heinz Soup

Of course I use Heinz soups as soup. A meal in their own right. A quick meal at that. But it’s not all you can do with them. With the weather turning cold and the nights being oh so dark, oh so early, here are a couple of my favourite winter soup uses.

As quickly proven by L, Heinz Soup tins are brilliant for stacking up and smashing down with a toy truck! To be fair it wasn’t how I saw this article going, but it did give me a pretty good start and a massive laugh. As I’m a bit rubbish at getting Instagram worthy food shots, it also helped to get some lovely playful pictures of them with L.

Did you know that a tin of soup can make a great base for a pasta bake? Just pick the soup that matches what you are going for. I like to use the Vegetable Soup, mix it in with cooked pasta, a few extra veg if I’m feeling good and have the time, but far from essential. Top with grated cheese and a crushed ready salted crisps and oven bake for 20 minutes. Done. A delicious and easy meal, filled with yummy soupy goodness.

The Oxtail soup makes a great base for a cheats leftovers stew. As it’s already filled with flavour you don;t need to spend ages cooking everything and making sure it soaked up all the flavours. I literally heat the soup up on the hob. chuck in all the leftover meats from a Sunday Roast or the like, same goes for the potatoes and veg and then simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to heat everything up. Serve in a giant Yorkshire pudding or just on its own. The leftovers stew makes the perfect evening meal or hearty warming lunch.

When it comes to the Cream of Tomato soup I use it to make me feel better when I’m ill, happy when I’m sad and as my go to meal. Served with hot buttered toast it needs nothing else. It is the ultimate comfort food. I survived tonsillitis on nothing but Cream of Tomato Soup and Rice Pudding. The amount of times my husband will have heard me whining that it’s all I want to eat, even if it’s not in the house, is untrue.

Too cheeky
Sorry its so blurred but he’s too cheeky not to share

I’m sure there are loads of other amazing soup recipes, but on this cold and dreary winter’s day these are the ones that spring to mind. I’d love it if you shared your soupy ideas with me.

Disclosure – I was sent some soups for the purpose of this article, all opinions are my own.
