My June Degustabox

Time for my monthly Degustabox feature, if you haven’t seen previous month’s posts, Degustabox is a monthly subscription box, filled with amazing new foods for you to try out. Including new lines from big brands and foods from smaller brands that you maybe weren’t aware of. For £12.99 per box you will have contents worth well in excess of that, so get the chance to try something new and maybe even find a new favourite treat.

The June box was brilliant, such a good selection. A little bit of everything and lots of new things to try and a great excuse for a barbecue. Here’s what I got;

Haywards Medium & Tangy Silverskins – £1.89 – I’m a big fan of a pickle. I’m rather fussy too. They have to be crisp, full of flavour and you have to get plenty in a jar. These delicious onions tick all those boxes.

Branston Spicy Tomato Relish – £1.65 – In a great easy squeeze, mess free tub. This relish is perfect for dipping, adding a spicy kick to your favourite burger or just as a change from ketchup.

Heinz Amoy Coconut Milk – £1.99 – I always like to have a tin of coconut milk in the cupboard, it so versatile. This was particularly creamy and good and thick.

Schwartz American Smokehouse Homemade Burger Mix – £1.49 – One pack of mince, a sachet of Schwartz, a spoon and a hot barbecue is all you need. A quick mix and shape later I had four burgers ready to go. This simple sauce mixes in easily and is by all accounts is delicious.

Zeo Cloudy Lemonade – £2.75 – Absolutely delicious and really great over ice on a hot day in the garden. I really enjoyed this but I can’t help but feel it’s not a very large bottle for quite a high price tag.

Sacla Pesto Pots – £2.79 – I love Pesto but as it’s only me and the toddler who do enjoy it I rarely make my way through an entire jar before it has to go. So these single serve mini pots are the ideal solution. I’m really happy I can just keep these int he cupboard for when I fancy a little pesto hit.

Butterkist Yogurt Coated Popcorn – £1.49 (plus an extra mini bag) – Oh my word this is amazing! Too good to be only 95 calories a serving. In big grab bags and 6 pack individual servings this is perfect for lunches or movie nights.

Bakedin Mug Brownie – £1.50 – My brownie didn’t rise 🙁 But it still tasted yummy 🙂 This is a delicious quick and easy treat. I had mine on a rainy afternoon, feeling a bit sorry myself and mug of chocolate-y-ness with a spoon of ice cream was just what I needed.

Miracle Noodles – £2.49 – I’ve used these quite a lot in my slimming endeavours. With absolutely no flavour and the weirdest texture I can see why people would be hesitant but cooked up in a spicy broth, I use peanut oil, soy sauce, chillies and garlic and served with some great mushrooms, baby corn and mage tout you’ll find it hard to have a yummier, more filling, lower calorie meal.

Smooze Fruit Ice – £2.50 – These freeze at home fruity ice treats are just so delicious. All natural ingredients with 40% coconut milk and 50% fruit juices and puree they are super healthy too. We all enjoyed these and they are a treat I can feel really good about.

Destrooper-Olivier Waffle Crisps – £1.10 – They can be enjoyed just as a biscuit, buttery and sweet. I really liked serving them with strawberries, ice cream and chocolate sauce, so just like a freshly cooked waffle.

Wychwood Wood Crafted Lager – extra item – This was a little hoppy for my tastes, but my ale drinking husband really enjoyed it as a flavourful but lighter alternative to an ale.

The biggest surprise for me was the Butterkist Yogurt Coated Popcorn. I was expecting to enjoy it but it was bloody brilliant. So that will definitely make it into our weekly shop from here on.

My most disappointing item was the Miracle Noodles. It was very hard to pick an item this month as I liked everything, but despite how much I like Miracle Noodles and already use them personally, there is no getting away from the bizarre texture.

The stand out item for me was definitely the Schwartz Burger Mix. Now you know I don’t eat meat myself, but to find something so easy to use that means I can create amazing homemade burgers that my son and husband love. Something so easy my husband can do it himself. Well that for me is worth a lot.

The overall family favourite goes to Smooze. My son loves ice lollies so much. He would live off them if he could so to find something icey, tasty and full of goodness means I can feel great about what I’m giving him. The fact my husband and I also really enjoy them is even better.

If you’re interested in trying Degustabox for yourself I’ve got a great reader offer for you, quote code ‘BLDEG15’ at the checkout and you’ll get a massive £7.00 off your first box! So that makes it half price.
