Feeling Calm #22

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

It’s crazy that last week whilst I was writing this I felt overwhelmed and stressed, today I’m feeling completely in control, happy and calm. I know that I have got this.

A simple household chore list has seemingly changed my life! That’s another story for another day though. I’m really excited about my trip to Bavaria next week for the BenQ GS1 Launch. Getting a little bit of time to myself is exactly what I need to cement this new found feeling of control.

It’s clear to me that since I have started practising mindfulness and keeping a journal that I have been able to control my emotions a lot better. I notice if my depression is getting triggered sooner. Allowing me to deal with it before it gets a hold of me.

This plus that equals…. why I love my garden

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about why I love my garden, I’m no great gardener but I wouldn’t be without my garden.

Project Bridesmaid #11

So in about a year I am going to be a bridesmaid for my little sister. This is just the kind of goal I need to diet, focus on my weight loss and getting healthier, which all ties in nicely with my quest to be a calmer, happier and healthier person.

I have decided to vlog about my journey as that will give me a visual reminder of where I’ve been and where I am and as it’s something that makes me rather uncomfortable it will also help to keep me in check. Plus it’s always good to push yourself.

During my journey I will be getting to try all kinds of new products and sharing my experiences of them with you. Continue reading Project Bridesmaid #11

Doddle Bags from Lakeland – Review

It is safe to say Lakeland is up there as one of my favourite stores, there’s always a new gadget, gift or kitchen accessory I want so I was really excited to get to review Doddle Bags for them.

Doddle Bags are reusable food and drink pouches, but more than that they can be used for toiletries when you are travelling, using with paints, any liquid basically.

They are perfect for on the go, they are leak proof, have anti-choke caps and are dishwasher and freezer safe. They are simply amazing and I have been a bit blown away by them. Continue reading Doddle Bags from Lakeland – Review

Are you the kind of person who is always looking for a slightly quirky gift, loves to support great causes or just enjoys a good pair of socks? If so Stand4 Socks are perfect for you.

I had never heard of Stand4 Socks before, but when their founder Josh got in touch I just knew I had to feature them.  Continue reading Stand4 Socks

My May Degustabox

Time for my monthly Degustabox feature, if you haven’t seen previous month’s posts, Degustabox is a monthly subscription box, filled with amazing new foods for you to try out. Including new lines from big brands and foods from smaller brands that you maybe weren’t aware of. For £12.99 per box you will have contents worth well in excess of that, get the chance to try something new and maybe even find a new favourite treat. I enjoy getting to try things I wouldn’t normally buy for my family.

The May box was amazing, sorry the post about it is later than normal, I’ve been a bit delayed since coming back from holiday but it was a real treat to come home to the May box, filled with plenty of pick me ups! A few choccy bits and loads of drinks, lots of new things for me to try. Here’s what I got;  Continue reading My May Degustabox

Project Bridesmaid #10

Feeling Calm #21

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

This week I’ve felt rather stressed and behind with things work wise, as for actual paid work I’m not behind at all, blog reviews I’m not quite where I want to be but equally I’m not being chased so it can’t be that bad but blogging the personal things I want to write about I’m not even close.

I know things have to be prioritised and my blog should just be a bit of fun so I shouldn’t be stressing about it, but that’s just the kind of person I am. So today the boy is at nursery and I’m sat out in the garden and planning to catch up a bit.

It’s weeks like this where I have really noticed how my Mindfulness practises really help, I take 15 minutes out of my evening to write down one thing that made me feel calm, one thing I’m grateful for and my top three moments of the day. This focuses my mind on the positives and makes me feel happier, it also allows me to see trends and invariably my calm moments are going cycling, walking or cuddling with my boy, so I know I need to do a lot more of that. I also take 20 minutes a day to meditate, which is tough when I feel I’m behind on things, but I do it anyway and I feel amazing and way more productive afterwards.

Father’s Day Fun from Hobbycraft

I recently took a trip to my local Hobbycraft in Norwich to grab a few bits so that L and I could make some fun Father’s Day gifts. Now L is only two and half years old, there is a limit to what he can craft but no limit to the mess he can make, or the fun he will have making it!

So we pushed back the rug, got him into his little craft apron, these are brilliant and only cost £1, well worth purchasing one, and then we set about immortalising Daddy by creating a portrait of him.

Our Morning at the Devon Railway Centre

As we did so many amazing trips when we were in Devon thanks to Devon’s Top Attractions, I wanted to share them all with you, so over the next few days expect plenty of posts about the places we went, what we loved, what we didn’t and most importantly what toddler L thought of them, so in this article I’ll tell you about the last day of  holiday and our final trip out at The Devon Railway Centre.
