Shopping centre’s holiday Kids’ Club offers free activities throughout the school holidays
intu Chapelfield is offering Kids’ Club members of three and over a series of fun activities throughout the school holidays, each exploring a different aspect of Norfolk’s landscape, culture or heritage. Always popular, Kids’ Club events give members the opportunity to get hands-on, learn creative skills, meet a few of their favourite characters, and make new friends.
Summer Kids’ Club runs from 10am to 4pm every Wednesday and Thursday for six weeks, beginning on Wednesday 26 July. Activities take place on the shopping centre’s Lower Ground Mall, outside House of Fraser. All the events are free for members of Kids’ Club, which is quick and easy to join: either at intu Chapelfield on the day, or online in advance at www.intu.co.uk/chapelfield/families/kids-club, where grown-ups can also check for more information each week and book in advance.
Each week will celebrate a different aspect of Norfolk’s landscape, culture or heritage, including some of the county’s best-loved family attractions. Beginning with Animals and Puppets, the activities will then be themed around the City of Norwich, the Seaside, Dinosaurs, the Broads, and Forest and Woodlands.
Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 August: The Seaside
On Wednesday, children can get creative and make a ‘fish clip’ or ‘octopus roll’; while on Thursday, it’s lighthouse day, with model making led by the intu Chapelfield events team.
Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 August: Dinosaurs and Fossils
Rex the T-Rex will be arriving on Wednesday, accompanied by cuddly baby dinos, and a giant dinosaur egg. Show times for Rex will be: 10.30am, 12.30pm & 2.30pm, and show times for the baby dinosaurs will be 11.30am & 1.30pm. On Thursday, budding palaeontologists can dig for fossils.
Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 August: The Broads
Children can get creative with the intu Chapelfield events team and make puppets inspired by ducks, swans and bees. On Thursday, it’s ‘ahoy there!’, with the opportunity to make a model sailing boat.
Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 August: Forest and Woodlands
On Wednesday, children can make squirrels, hedgehogs and other forest friends out of fir cones; while on Thursday, they can create woodland creatures with pebbles and paint.
intu Chapelfield Kids’ Club organises free activities and events throughout the year, including regular arts and crafts workshops, and interactive activities during the school holidays, suitable for ages 3 to 12 depending on the activity. Every new Kids’ Club member receives a special joining pack and it’s free!
