Feeling Calm #36

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

Sorry this is a day late. Husb and I had a few days away and instead of writing this when I got home last night. I collapsed into a tired heap on the sofa with half a bottle of wine. Whoops.

I start my new job tomorrow. I have a lump in my chest. A knot of tension. I’m far from calm at this precise moment. Am I making the right decision, how much will impact our lives, things work so nicely with me at home.

All I know is we need some money and there’s no point me striving to stay at home if I don’t have a home to stay in. I hope this is just a temporary bump in the road. Only time will tell though. Wish me luck for tomorrow.

Oh and as I’m typing this I get a phone call from the garage, which has my car for the fourth time over recent weeks, to be told that another car has rolled into it. I really could cry right now. When it rains it pours.

Feeling Calm #33

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

I’m feeling so much better this week. I decided to turn down the job I had been offered and spend some time focusing on what I really want, which is to work from home. Whether it comes good or not, who knows, but at least I’ll have tried.

I’ve been so up and down emotionally these last few weeks I’ve really had to go back to basics with my meditation and my calm, mindfulness practices. The gratitude journal has been a blessing but I’ll admit I’d let the meditation slip a bit recently. So I’ve been making a conscious effort to do every day and it really does help me so much. I’ve been looking at things that could help me with this, nice cushions, music, I even found some amazing wall fountains from Soothing Walls, you can have inside. I shall have to dream about those for a little while though, just until I talk Husb around and sort out the work situation. I just think the sound of running water would be the most calming thing ever.

Husb has been off work this last week and is still off until Friday, so we’ve been cramming in loads of day trips and fun things with L. It’s been great going out and about and thanks to our Spree Book nearly everything has been half price. If you are in Norfolk (or any of the other places that have them) I would definitely recommend a Spree Book, literally filled with offers. I’ve been buying them for years now.

After a string of amazing weeks it only seems fitting that things have gone terribly wrong. Having lost a major client I’m facing the very real possibility that I’ll have to return to work for a bit and put a pause on my Work from Home dream. Especially as my car has started making some very worrying and most likely expensive sounds. So it has been extra important to carry on with my gratitude journal. I need to stay focused. Remain calm and keep my balance.

This week has certainly been a come down after our holiday, with a toddler who has just been unbelievably tired, both the other half and I being so busy with work and just getting back into our routines whilst dealing with some really horrible weather has not been fun.

Feeling Calm #19

We were in Devon all of last week, so I didn’t write my top ten last Wednesday. I’ve been toying with a catch up top 20 this week, just missing a week or doing a top ten from the last 14 days and that is what I have opted for.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, going away takes up so much time, getting work done before hand, being shattered afterwards. Dealing with everything whilst you are away but without the home comforts. It can be draining but ultimately, we had fun and it was worth it, although there were times during the holiday I may not have said that!

April Crafts

I love to craft, really love it, but like many of my hobbies it has been put on the back burner since becoming a mum. Just like reading, looking presentable and using the bathroom by myself.

I’m lucky enough that I get to work with Baker Ross regularly so I’m never out of fun crafts to do with the boy and I also make things for the Hobbycraft blog quite often, every now and then I get asked to things for other companies as well. I relish these opportunities as it means I get to do something I love, but it’s never just for me, which I miss.  Continue reading April Crafts

Feeling Calm #15

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

Towards the end half of last week I was still feeling quite anxious, but I’ve picked myself up and am now back to me. The weather is good, the sun is shining and I’m feeling great. I’ve still found it therapeutic to pick my 10 moments from the past 7 days and here they are;
