Feeling Calm #26

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

Today has been a busy boring day but this week has been amazing! Spending time with friends, meeting idols, some amazing weather and perfect days out. So it has been hard picking just ten moments.

Feeling Calm #24

It’s been a funny old week. There have been summer colds and grumpiness all round. A tired toddler and a tired mummy is not a mix made in heaven. We’ve had some fun though.

Feeling Calm #21

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

This week I’ve felt rather stressed and behind with things work wise, as for actual paid work I’m not behind at all, blog reviews I’m not quite where I want to be but equally I’m not being chased so it can’t be that bad but blogging the personal things I want to write about I’m not even close.

I know things have to be prioritised and my blog should just be a bit of fun so I shouldn’t be stressing about it, but that’s just the kind of person I am. So today the boy is at nursery and I’m sat out in the garden and planning to catch up a bit.

It’s weeks like this where I have really noticed how my Mindfulness practises really help, I take 15 minutes out of my evening to write down one thing that made me feel calm, one thing I’m grateful for and my top three moments of the day. This focuses my mind on the positives and makes me feel happier, it also allows me to see trends and invariably my calm moments are going cycling, walking or cuddling with my boy, so I know I need to do a lot more of that. I also take 20 minutes a day to meditate, which is tough when I feel I’m behind on things, but I do it anyway and I feel amazing and way more productive afterwards.

This week has certainly been a come down after our holiday, with a toddler who has just been unbelievably tired, both the other half and I being so busy with work and just getting back into our routines whilst dealing with some really horrible weather has not been fun.

This plus that equals…. why I blog happy

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This is a post I’ve been thinking about for a while, why I blog happy, there have been a lot of things recently complaining about some mummy blogs being overly positive and therefore fake, one post in particular recently that went viral said we all sucked, nice. This isn’t slamming the blogs that write about the downsides to parenting, they are some of my favourites, they are hilarious, but I choose to be happy, be positive and here’s why.

Feeling Calm #18

Oh my word wasn’t the weather over the weekend AMAZING, if anything was going leave me calm and happy it was a hot weekend filled with splashy paddling pool fun, a few ciders and a BBQ at my sister’s. I’m slightly concerned that we’ve used up all the good weather though, we’re off to Devon at the weekend and last year we got the worst weather, this year I would at least like it to be dry.

Feeling Calm #17

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

I’ve had a pretty good week this week. I hand fed an actual Lemur, doesn’t get much better than that but to balance things out I’ve been up half the night with the little one and now I’ve got a stomach bug, can’t have it all!!

I’m feeling rather sorry for myself as I type, husb being particularly thoughtless this morning, was just annoyed about how me being ill has impacted on him, he had to half dress the child, take him to nursery and that meant he couldn’t cycle to work, oh what a shame, I spent most of last night hugging a bucket, boo hoo! So not only do I feel better for my mini rant it’s also been lovely to write about lovely things I’ve done this last week. Here are my top 10 moments from the past 7 days;

Feeling Calm #16

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites. 

I’ve had a pretty good week this week. I got out of practise of meditating and really practising my mindfulness so I’m putting a lot of effort into that and I’m already feeling a million times better for it. I’m also making more effort to just be happy, surprising how much just trying to be happy actually makes.

I’ve still had some profoundly rubbish moments though, the cat has taken to bringing me live birds, little sh*t, the child pissed all over me, the shade on my swing chair broke and other such irritations so I’ve still found it therapeutic to pick my 10 moments from the past 7 days and here they are;

Feeling Calm #15

Towards the end half of last week I was still feeling quite anxious, but I’ve picked myself up and am now back to me. The weather is good, the sun is shining and I’m feeling great. I’ve still found it therapeutic to pick my 10 moments from the past 7 days and here they are;
