This Plus That Equals…. My Top Tired Games

This plus that equals…. my top tired games

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about the ways I keep L entertained when I am beyond tired and don’t really have the energy to parent. These are also good when you’re ill.

Having spent all weekend at my sister’s hen party I needed all of these today as at points I literally couldn’t keep my eyes open.

Feeling Calm #50

For my birthday last year I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

My winning streak has come to an end. I have been feeling tired and stressed and struggled to find any motivation this last week. A long way from calm if I’m honest.

Things have gotten on top of me a bit and I’m desperate to get that winning feeling back. The previous few weeks I had been so organised and positive. I know exactly what has changed, well built up, but it’s hard to counteract it as it’s not something I can directly change.

Regardless, here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:

This Plus That Equals… Funny Things My Toddler Says

This plus that equals…. funny things my toddler says

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about the funny little things L has come out with recently. I’ve noted down some of his little sayings before, it deserved updating though.

Paw Patrol Ilumi-Mates

L loves Paw Patrol. If allowed he watch it from the moment he wakes to the moment he fell asleep. He often enjoys running around the house pretending to be on various rescue missions with the pups, it’s all very cute.

When he was offered the chance to review some of the colour change Paw Patrol Illumi-Mates from Spearmark I just had to say yes. It was clear he would just adore them.  Continue reading Paw Patrol Ilumi-Mates

Fearne Fairy and the Landing Lesson – Book Review

L and I love the Whimsy Wood books by Sarah Hill. Simple stories about Pixies and Fairies and most of all nature.

Fearne Fairy and the Chocolate Caterpillar is no exception. It is brilliant. The perfect length bedtime book. Lots of amazing illustrations.

JCB Kids January Delivery

L was really happy to see another huge parcel from JCB Kids a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say he dove straight in. I think being a a brand ambassador for them in his favourite job!

We had been sent a couple of Wheel Loaders from the HTI Toys range, a really big one and a smaller one.

Feeling Calm #48

For my birthday last year I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

For the second week running I am on form, oh yeah! I’m ill as can be, pretty certain I have a sinus infection, but that won’t stop me! I’m calm, collected, ready for anything. My to do lists are still getting ticked off and mentally, if not physically, I’m feeling good.

I’m being careful not to take on more than I can handle. My diary is blocked out into the tasks I have to do and the time it will take me to do them. I’m also scheduling in down time and that is important. I think it is this change, the not taking on too much, that is really empowering and has allowed me to do so much more.

So here they are, my top ten moments from the last 7 days:

Pushing Through It

I have literally lost track of how many times I have said ‘I just push through it’ this week. Don’t worry, I’ll push through it. It’s OK, I can push through it. Well you know, you just push through it. Again, and again and again.

As a parent I think that’s just what you do. As a working parent I have to. as a working parent who is also working very hard to not be a working parent I have to push through it even more!

Feeling Calm #47

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

It’s not often you’ll find me saying this, but currently I am on form, the best form I have had in ages! Calm, collected, ready for anything. I’m handling my new job pretty well, I’m actually, dare I say it, after all that fuss and bother, having a laugh. At home the house is tidy, I would almost go as far as saying it is clean, but I’m on top of all the chores. L is perfect, as ever. My to do lists are not only getting ticked off, but they are longer too.

I’ve got this! It may only last this week, but hey, I’m going to shout it from the rooftops this week because it’s one hell of an achievement.

So here they are, my top ten moments from the last 7 days:

The #RockingMotherhood Tag

#ROCKINGMOTHERHOOD

I hadn’t heard of the #RockingMotherhood tag until I was tagged by Lynne at New Mummy Blog and Becky at Bringing up the Berneys (the idea originally came from Patricia at White Camellias).

Now I’ve seen loads of people’s #rockingmotherhood lists and boy are these women rocking it. I spend so long worrying if I’m doing it right, or feeling like a down right failure (3 year old who will not use the toilet unless he’s naked, regardless of what I do and try, fail!), but as you know I am big on positivity and this tag is all about the positivity so I’m in.
