This plus that equals…. what I should do with a morning off
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about a few things I think I should work on. Like Spending time on myself.
Recently I’ve been lucky enough to have a couple of child free, work free mornings. So I did all the housework, made phone calls, sorted out the shopping and generally worked until I was exhausted. I think I should have played it differently.
I most definitely should have started the day with a lay in. Why when there was no small person calling for me did I still get up at 6am.
Even if I had woken up early I should have stayed in bed until at least 7am. I could have read my book. I could have snoozed. I could have just relaxed.
Had a Bath
I had actual, real, rare time to myself and instead of having a hot bath I still had a quick shower. Yeah I got to moisturise properly afterwards but I sill think I could have pushed the boat out a bit and ran myself a bath. I missed a trick there.
Left the Housework
I went to town on the house during my free morning, I vacuumed all the nooks and crannies. I even cleaned the bins. The bins! I ticked off all of my cleaning to do list.
Guess what, within 35 seconds of L’s return all my hard work was undone and I should never have bothered.
Watched some trashy TV
With no demands for Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol I really should have camped out on the sofa for a bit and caught up on some delightfully mind numbing trashy TV.
Maybe even enjoyed a biscuit or three whilst I caught up on the latest Teen Mom drama or found out which Kardashian is getting married next. I do love watching a bit of tat on TV.
Yep. I had more than enough time for breakfast. Instead of sitting down and enjoying something a bit fancy, maybe a poached egg and some smoked salmon, or even just popping some toast in I ran around the house like a crazed person working.
Breakfast ended up being a muesli bar as I headed into work.
What is wrong with me? Have I totally lost the ability to relax? Please tell me I am not alone in this foolishness!
