So a little while ago now I was sent a wonderful hamper filled to the brim with sauces from Heinz. So I had a little think about how we use them at home and thought I’d share 5 of my favourite sandwich fillings with you.
Now there’s no two ways about it, we all know that Heinz sauces are great for dipping and dunking. Be it chips, salad, or even a cheeky crisp (crisps and mayo is lush just so you know!). I’m not here to review them and how yummy they are. We all know that. But with the schools being back and the time for summer salads at lunch quickly passing I thought I’d share some quick and easy lunch box ideas.
Sandwich 1. Peanut Butter and Heinz Barbecue Sauce.
I can already here you recoiling, but just trust me on this, the nuttiness mixed with the meaty, smokiness from the Barbecue Sauce is amazing. It’s one of my son’s favourites.
Just pop a thin layer of sauce on the bread, top with a layer of peanut butter and you’re away.
Sandwich 2. Celery, cheese and Heinz Seriously Good Mayonnaise.
You need your food processor for this one, but it’s worth it, having been a favourite of mine since I was a child.
Take 4 sticks of celery, trims the ends and cut in half. Add to the food processor with 60g of mature cheddar and 3 tablespoons of mayo.
Blitz until smooth. You may need to add a bit more mayonnaise, but it’s best to start with too little as the celery is actually quite juicy.
This will make enough for several sandwiches and can be stored in the fridge for a week. Delicious.
Sandwich 3. Cream Cheese, Heinz Sweet Chili Sauce and Cucumber.
OK so I love this is a wrap too, but it works in any form. So quick and easy.
Spread your cream cheese, add thinly sliced cucumber and top with a generous helping of Sweet Chili Sauce.
It gives a tasty twist to a classic sandwich. Handy hint. If this is for a lunch box, pop cream cheese on both slices of bread as it will stop the cucumber making the bread soggy.
Sandwich 4. Ham and Heinz Mustard with Honey
This is a classic sandwich. Ham and mustard is one of my husbands favourite combo’s. But by using the Heinz Mustard with Honey gives it that something extra. When I make this for my son I also add loads of salad and sometimes even pickle to turn it into a ploughmans, but the thought of that disgusts my husband, he likes to keep it simple and greenery free.
Sandwich 5. The Crisp Sandwich with Heinz Ketchup and Cheddar
This is a real family pleaser and such a classic mix. Best with thick sliced, crusty white bread and in my personal opinion cheese and onion crisps, though I would accept ready salted.
Add a generous helping of a nice strong cheddar, top with Heinz Ketchup, then finally a layer of your chosen crisps. Then sit back and enjoy the crunchy goodness.
I hope you enjoyed my simple but yummy sandwich ideas. They aren’t anything fancy but they are a bit different and really quick to make up. What’s your favourite sandwich?
