I love eating at Turtle Bay in Norwich. I’ve got a soft spot for it having been there for the launch and visiting several times since. So I couldn’t wait to try out the new menu.
I was really happy to see some more vegetarian options and some new cocktails, as well as vegan dishes and gluten free dishes, not forgetting some new meaty dishes including more burgers.

We popped in to Turtle Bay last Saturday at lunch time and had a nice little table in a raised area along the back wall. It was handy as I could sit L in a corner he could not escape from!

As always the cocktails are 2-4-1, so, as always, I had 2! L had the Pineappleade and loved it. He also loved that it was served in a milk bottle.
We ordered our starters and got L’s kids meal to come out at the same time so he didn’t have to wait. That worked really well for us, as he got to eat at the same time as us and take his time over everything.

L had a kids Chicken Breast Meal, so grilled chicken breast, plain fries and some Caribbean Slaw. Whilst I tucked into the Trini Doubles, think warm and fluffy flatbread topped with curried chickpeas and fresh salsa, delicious. Husb enjoyed a Beef Patty, which is a bit like a pasty, but a lot spicier.

The starters at Turtle Bay are always a nice size, enough to take the edge off any immediate hunger, but not too big to stop you enjoying your mains. I also think they are just the right size if you’ve stopped in one evening to enjoy the cocktails but want a little snack.

For our main course we both wanted to try something new front he menu. For me the choice was easy, I went straight for the Mushroom and Goat’s Cheese Burger. Amazing. A Grilled Portobello Mushroom with Jerk Spices, topped with a generous serving of Goat’s Cheese in a bun, I had Spicy Fries with mine and ate everything apart from the top part of my bun. L had nabbed that to try for himself.

Husb went for the steak, which is unusual for him. He is very fussy about his meat. He can’t stand any fat on it and hates it if it is too rare. But he couldn’t resist the idea of a Jerk Pit grilled steak though and he really enjoyed it. Very impressed. The meat was great quality, cooked just as he had asked and perfectly spicy.

For dessert L had a scoop of vanilla ice cream but ended up eating the majority of my Passion Pie. I can’t say I blame him. A lovely pastry base, a layer of Passion Fruit, soft meringue and more passion fruit sauce. Delicious and perfect after a large meal.
Husb went for the Banana & Toffee Cheesecake. Also delicious. I love the combination of toffee and banana, in fact #i was going to order this myself. We were supposed to be splitting our desserts, but after L ate most of mine it wasn’t feasible.

Our food was just delicious. I loved all the extra veggie choices on the menu, it really did make a difference to me. I’m still of the opinion that Turtle Bay is the coolest place to eat in Norwich, the decor and ambience is unlike anything else in the city.

We also need to say a massive thank you to our server Roly. He was awesome. Really friendly and great with L. Chatting with him and checking out his new toy truck that had come to lunch with us.
I can’t wait to go back .
