Now I’m a great lover of chocolate, I have rather large bottom and thighs as proof, but that doesn’t mean you want the entire contents of Asda’s chocolate aisle showing up at your doorstep over one weekend. So I have pulled together some fab alternatives to chocolate for the kids and the grown ups. Continue reading Easter Without The Chocolate
Don’t apologise for being a parent
When I started blogging two years ago the aim was to help me find a way, any way, to stay at home. I tried a few different things, took a few courses and found myself working as a Social Media Manager. I was able to leave my admin job and am now officially self employed. I thought I would start sharing some of the things I have learnt along the way.
As soon as people find out I am a mum, a mum who works to stay at home with her son, they all of a sudden seem to think I am incapable of doing a job, this often left me feeling I had to justify myself and do more, I’m sure this is the same for stay at home Dad’s too. What I have come to find though is that apologising for being who I am doesn’t help and here’s why. Continue reading Things to Know about Working from Home #2
Oh yes, Spring had sprung, everything is lighter and brighter and that makes everyone happier. Daylight is clearly an important thing.
With that in mind you can understand why I love Lumie so much.
We’re big fans of Lumie in our house, I use the Desk Lamp at my workspace and my husband has been using the Iris Bodyclock which also works as an aromatherapy diffuser, so when we were sent the Active 250 to review, with it’s radio and white noise functions it made sense to me that I nabbed the other half’s Iris which I had been lusting over and he used the Active 250. The Nation Goes Skipping Mad For Sport Relief #SureSkipathon is aiming to get Brits donating one million skips. With a fun app that you have to beat get skipping, get fit and have fun for Sports Relief.
Did you know that skipping is one of the happiest sports as two thirds of Brits find it impossible to skip without a smile on their face (62 per cent). I am one of those Brits, it is true, I am rubbish and I find skipping with the app almost impossible but I was smiling, sweaty and gross, but smiling. Continue reading Get Fit and Donate Your Skips
I always consider myself lucky that I get to try new things as a blogger and still find it strange that people value my opinion. Every now and then I get to try something that really stands out from the crowd and I fell luckier still, that’s exactly how I feel about El Camino.
The concept is simple, a charm bracelet dedicated to travel, but the reality is fun and stylish and most importantly affordable. Continue reading My Travels with El Camino Bracelets
For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I feel a bit of a fraud this week, writing a post about feeling calm when I have been far from it. I have been tired, irritable, overwhelmed and over stretched and this resulted in my completely loosing it with the little one yesterday which needless to say made feel super shitty. This week more so than most I have felt the burden of everything lay on me, my immediate support system is not the best and I need to admit this and reach out more.
I’ve been trying everything I can to help me maintain some semblance of calm, writing my journal, meditating when I get a chance, which isn’t as much as I’d like or need, walking and trying to go to bed at a good time, but ultimately returns to one thing, time. So I need to get a lot better at managing it, so I have time, time for me, 10 minutes a day shouldn’t be so hard to find, I just need to make sure I do it as it sure as hell isn’t going to be given to me.
Importantly there have been lovely things this week so here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:
This plus that equals…. easy toddler fun for tired parents
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week are a few things me and L do together to keep him happy, with minimum effort on my part, great for those days when you are just ridiculously tired.
So that they knew I would be having a lovely meal on Mother’s Day Hello Fresh sent me one of their lovely boxes packed full of everything I would need to make three delicious recipes.
I chose to have the vegetarian box as I wanted to be sure I would benefit from it, so one day I got a very heavy box delivered with everything, herbs, spices, vegetables, easy to follow recipes, everything I needed to create three amazing meals to feed four people. As it it turns out, it could feed four very hungry people!
Is one of the most expensive things you own also your toddlers favourite play thing? That’s certainly the case in our house, thanks to YouTube and a nice man, Blippi, who sings about tractors and fire engines L loves the iPad.
In all fairness he’s pretty good with it, he knows to be careful and he knows he can only have it when we say, but he also knows exactly where it’s kept and will often run and grab it and ask to use it.
He will fall, he will drop it and he will use it harder than we would like. That’s life. And as you will see from the pictures of him after the case was arrived, if the small child is this excited about a new case, you can only imagine what he’s like with the iPad!
