This month I have got an amazing prize for two lucky people thanks to the folk at Stag Bakery.
Each prize will include 1 flavour of each of the Sweet Straws (Apple & Cinnamon, Sour Cherry & Vanilla, Raspberry & Chocolate, Blackberry & Basil) and 1 flavour of each of the Dipping Crackers (Chickpea & Garlic, Green Pea & Ras El Hanout, Lentil & Biriyani).
So you’ve got a great savoury snack, followed by a delicious sweet treat. Perfect for entertaining or a cosy movie night in.
West Coast have initially launched three varieties of cracker which can be enjoyed as a snack, dip or accompaniment to a meal.
Lentil & Biriyani is made with Mathia flour and delicately spiced with traditional Indian flavours and works well with curry as an alternative to poppadoms. Inspired by North African cuisine, Green Bean & Ras El Hanout is made with Moong Dall Flour and Ras El Hanout spice so also makes a good accompaniment to tagines or couscous. Chickpea with Garlic is houmous-inspired made with Besan flour and is recommended to use serve with Middle Eastern dishes and dips.
Sweet Straws are a sweet-twist on traditional savoury straws, with four fruit-based flavours.
Apple & Cinnamon, a classic combination of a delicately spiced orchard fruit. Blackberry & Basil, a marriage made in berry heaven thanks to the delicate addition of basil. Raspberry & Chocolate, with a generous amount of raspberry pieces and distinct chocolate aroma. Sour Cherry & Vanilla, the sourness of the cherries perfectly complemented with sweet vanilla
Light, crunchy, buttery and hand-baked, the straws are a fantastic alternative to traditional sweet biscuits. They work equally well as an accompaniment or decoration to ice cream, yogurts or sundaes.
Pickin’ Chickens is a fun new game from Drumond Park. We’ve been lucky enough to get it early and have been testing it out at home. I also have one to giveaway.
As it is aimed at ages 4+ it should have been too much for L, but like most Drumond Park games we’ve been able to adapt the rules so he can play it now. Although with the little chicken counters I have had to keep a beady eye on him.
L has adored this game. I have actually had to hide it. The idea is simple, spin the wheel and uncover a chicken coop. Keep spinning until you’ve collected all four colours of chicken. The added fun part is the fox that springs from the middle. If he catches you then you have to give one chicken back. He loves the fox! Continue reading Pickin’ Chickens Review & Competition→
We have been out and about getting messy and grubby all summer so when Persil got in touch about there new ‘Persil Wild Explorers’ app it sounded perfect for us, at the same time Comfort had sent me a sample of their new super concentrated fabric softener. Everything was in line for us to have some extra messy fun and be left with super clean and super soft laundry.
For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I’m still really struggling this week. My emotions have been all over the place. Plenty of hiding so I can sob into a pillow and trying not to let L see it. I got the job I interviewed for, I’m just waiting for the formal offer. Trouble is I don’t want it. I really, really, really don’t want to to be an employee again. Honestly I thought that I would have enough time to pick up more clients before I got a sniff at any of the jobs I was applying for. I was only doing it to show willing. That backfired.
Now I know I’ll be spread too thinly to make anything really work. I’ve been loving blogging, mummying and running all the social accounts and building that up when I’ve had a moment. Now I’ll be working, mummying, trying to blog and working with my current client to do a great job for them but I won’t have time to give anything all the attention it needs and I know in my heart of hearts that if my new client goes that will be it for my Self Employed venture.
I’m devastated. This week more than ever writing has been my solace. The thing keeping me grounded and whilst my journal has been way more ‘ranty’ than usual, it’s still filled with my happy moments. As you can imagine, picking ten has been very therapeutic for me.
This plus that equals…. Ways My Toddler Has Injured Me
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about the many ways in which my toddler has injured me. It’s a lot. Toddlers may be cute, but with all that bouncy energy and the coordination of a drunk hippo on ice they can be lethal.
Recently L’s words have been coming on leaps and bounds. It’s a momentum I want to continue, but I want it to be fun and I want to know I’m doing it right, in a way that will help him at nursery and eventually school. Clearly at his age there’s not much out there, just flash cards and toddler books. So I was really pleased to be contacted by Phonics School. Continue reading Phonics School Cartoon & Workbook→
