What seems like forever ago, long before L was even remotely capable of reading or even truly understanding what we read to him we started the Badger the Mystical Mutt series of books. We’ve got loads of them, all of the first series in actual fact.
Then life happened, he got older and started being more interested in picture books and things he could grasp himself, shorter tales and less words. We obviously ran with this. I’m sad to say Badger got forgotten for a while, as so often happens in real life.
Then quite unexpectedly a parcel arrived at my door, completely unasked for and it bought Badger back to us. The latest of his adventures, a Christmas tale for the young and old, filled with charm and wit and perfect for L now he is that bit older.
Badger the Mystical Mutt and the Sparkle Bandits is the third book from the second series, which means I’ve got some catching up to do and we are very excited to do that together.
In this latest book the North Star is in danger and that would mean no Christmas! Badger has his work cut out, will his spells work or will they go just a tiny bit wrong. Will he be able to rescue the North Star in time and save Christmas? Who knows.
With lovely illustrations, twists and turns throughout, this is a great book for kids aged 5+ and truly enjoyable as an adult reading it to them, I love the ongoing themes of friendship, loyalty and general good sense.
This is a fabulous read all by itself, especially this time of year, don’t feel you need to have read them all. This is a good spot to start, but trust me you’ll want to go back and get the rest.
Disclosure – whilst I was sent this book for free, I have no idea who sent it and a review certainly was not expected. All thoughts, opinions and images are my own.
