Last weekend we took L to Bowling House in Norwich for a little treat. It may or may not have escaped your attention but L started school in September. I have not been handling it well! I was given plenty of advice from plenty of people but the one thing that stuck with me was from a friend of mine who simply said, make sure you have some nice things planned.
I actually planned a few little surprises for him, just to let him know how pleased we were with him. He got a balloon delivery, just because I’m so proud of him. We’ve been for little walks after school to go blackberry picking. Made candles together. Just a few things to show him (and me) that he’s doing really well. I thought it would be really nice to do something fun as a family as well, so when Bowling House invited us for a game, I said yes. What perfect timing.
Bowling House is five lanes of truly Instagram worthy retro cool at the bottom of Grapes Hill in Norwich. A building that has been a Cinema, a Bingo Hall and a Pub is now the perfect setting for some ten pin fun.
It doesn’t have it’s own parking but Barn Road Pay & Display is less than a two minute walk away and St Andrews Car Park is maybe ten minutes so you’ve got plenty of options.
What it does have is a lovely little outside seating area, cute tucked away seating to enjoy some pre or post game food, amazing milkshakes and delicious snacks that will be bought to your lane and of course bowling!
We had never taken L bowling before, he’s spent so long being scared of loud noises bowling was a non-starter, all those lanes, crammed with people, balls crashing and banging, overly loud music in the background. That would never work. Thankfully Bowling House is so different, chilled and laid back.
L got to decide if he wanted to wear bowling shoes or not, we both did, I think it adds to the experience, so he wanted to as well. We were never rushed and there was plenty of space, so L was comfortable and happy. They popped bumpers up on our lane, which to my shame I used more than L did, and there was a ramp ready for him.
He just had so much fun, so much fun he wanted a second game, to which we duly obliged. I’m so happy we went, we’ve found something we can do on a rainy day with him and frankly, now I’ve found Bowling House, I wouldn’t consider going elsewhere. We loved it.
It’s not just the bowling though, there’s food, milkshakes, cocktails and after 7pm it’s for over 18’s only which is something I want to experience.
All three of us went for Oreo milkshakes, which we awesome and the boys shared a plate of fries and side of southern fried chicken. They loved the food and I’d really like to go back and eat from the full menu, there was a Halloumi Burger that caught my attention.
I had to go work that afternoon and have told the team it’s where we should go for our Christmas meal, it would be the ideal place for our little team to celebrate.
If you want to try Bowling House out for yourself I’ve got a free bowl for two to giveaway, just enter your details into the Gleam App below. Just remember, you’ve got to be able to get to Norwich and transport is not included.
Good Luck xx
Disclosure – our two games of bowling and round of milkshakes were provided by Bowling House, they have also gifted the prize. We paid for our own food and all thoughts, opinions and image are my own.
