As you all know we love BRIO in this house. L has an amazing BRIO collection that he uses with his railway set and also just in general small world play. They get used a lot, so we were really happy to be able to review the BRIO Airplane.
The BRIO Airplane is a lovely little toy and can be used on it’s own as a stand alone toy or combined into a larger BRIO world. It is really fun, comes with some lovely accessories and as always with BRIO is beautifully made.
The Airplane comes with two BRIO people, the pilot and a passenger. I like the BRIO people and am always happy to have some more to add into the set, they are nice and easy to play with and have lovely features. You also get a suitcase, that annoyingly isn’t to scale, but it’s larger size makes it easy to play with and fits nicely into some of the cargo style trains, so they knew what they were doing! You also get a little push along stair so that the people can board the plane, this fits on the rail tracks and can be used as rolling stock or added to the back of the cars and other vehicles as it has the magnet connector.
As a toy a far bit of thought has gone onto the plane, from the hinged top that completely opens for easy access to the size of the seats which are perfect for the people. The detailing is spot on and it just feels really nice. It’s a pleasure to play with.
The classic wooden style of BRIO that we all know and love has been kept just with a modern twist. The entire bottom half of the plane is a lovely smooth wood, whilst the top half is a sturdy, vivid blue plastic. It’s a lovely balance between practicality and style.
I just know this is going to last us for years and years and I think the build quality alone warrants the investment, but it’s the little things that set it apart too. The design, the fun, the ease of use. I can’t fault it. L has already been playing with his train set for a few years and I haven’t seen the enthusiasm drop at all, it is just growing with us.
The BRIO Airplane retails at £19.99 and is suitable for ages 3+.
