My last trip to Interlude in the Close was to watch Lost in Translation Circus perform their Circus Lates show. It was phenomenal. A brilliant night filled with humour and jaw dropping skills.
We’ve had the pleasure of watching Lost in Translation Circus before, a performance aimed at a younger audience last summer and their adaptation of a Christmas Carol last year. Circus Lates takes the best of what they have to offer with a pinch of cabaret and a dash of burlesque. It’s aimed at an older audience, aged 16+ not that there was anything to risky if I’m honest.
It’s lovely being in the big top watching a circus performance and a great way to spend the evening. Each show will be different to the last so if you’ve already been or seen them before it’s still worth a visit. Basically, if you can get hold of tickets, then do! You won’t regret it.
Things worth noting. There is no break, so buy your refreshments before you sit down. There’s a few offerings from drinks to pizza. It can get chilly in the tent, so wrap up warm. Crowd participation makes the night so much more enjoyable, so go ready to have fun and join in. Whilst not 100% needed, to the lady in the front row who bought her own seat cushion, you are a genius!!
We had such a fun night and it was over far too soon, I could have watched for a lot longer. My friend and I spent most the evening just looking at each other and wondering how these things were physically possible. The range of different skills and talents on show was amazing, There were lots of ooo’s and aaah’s, a fair few gasps and a lot of laughter.
There were lots of different acts to enjoy. People bending in ways I didn’t think were possible, whilst balancing on impossibly small stands. Juggling, with both hands and feet. Things being cut in half with whips. Different styles of trapeze and what I could only describe as a human trapeze! That’s only a small glimpse of the variety of acts we saw and the talent is just amazing. There is a little something for everyone.
