A few weeks back I wrote about the wonder Sourced Locally Fortnight run by the East of England Co-op. One of the amazing local brands they featured got in touch, Keejays, who are just over the Norfolk border in Suffolk. They make Goldfish Curry Sauce and wanted to see if I would like to try out some of their sauces for myself. Of course, I said yes.

They sent me a selection of the sauces. Some recipe cards for inspiration. I also got a thermos so I could take some warm food out and about with me. Coming in small square, stackable tubs, you get enough to serve around eight people in each pot. You can choose from a variety of flavours and they are super easy to use. In the Goldfish Curry Sauce Range there are five flavours, Original Chinese, Chinese Hot & Spicy, Madras, Thai Style and Japanese Style.

Each tub is filled with potential. It is so simple to make up the sauces, I couldn’t believe just how easy it was. All you do is scoop out some of the paste, which is actually really quite solid, add water, stir and heat. Bam.
Because it is so easy the uses are just endless. You can use it as a soup base, a dip, a sauce or add fish, meat and vegetables to create your ideal curry. It only takes about 10 minutes to make up the sauce, so it’s great for a quick meal.

For us it was perfect as I always have to make two curries. A meat one for the husband and a veggie one for me. With the base being so easy to make, it didn’t take any extra time to make up the two curries.
I made up a portion of the the Chinese Hot & Spicy Curry Sauce for both the husband and myself and set it to one side.

In one pan I sweated off some onions, added peppers, mushrooms, spinach and cooked potatoes. Gently fried them until cooked. Then added in half of the sauce I prepared. One curry finished. In a second pan I cooked mince meat, with onions, potatoes and a handful of peas. When cooked I added the rest of the sauce. Husbands curry finished.
I served them both with rice and we were away. So simple, so tasty, so quick. The perfect dinner for us. Best yet there are so many curry sauce flavours to choose from and so many combinations of ingredients to add we’ll never get bored.

I can safely say there will now always be a Goldfish Curry Sauce Concentrate in my cupboard so I will always be able to whip up a delicious meal.
Disclosure – we were sent our sauces free of charge so we could try them. I was under no obligation to write this article.
