With barbecue season on it’s way, the weather must get better soon surely! Barbecues across the country are getting cleaned and ready to go, charcoal is being purchased and burgers are making their way into shopping baskets ready to be enjoyed. So I thought I’d share a great new product with you, FireDragon from BCB International.
FireDragon is an eco-friendly firelighter made from rotten vegetable mass. It sounds horribly simple, and it is, but it could mean great things for the planet if people make the switch. HRH Prince Charles called it “remarkable” on a recent visit to BCB International.
It’s a one-of-a-kind eco-friendly firelighter initially created for the military because of its sustainability (no trees were harmed in its making) but also due to its performance, lighting instantly in all weathers, and its power for creating roaring fires without any of the nasty harmful things traditional firelighters bring with them.
It comes in cubes or in bottles of gel, fuss and mess free with no lingering smell, smoke or soot. Perfect for BBQ season and even better for nature! In less than 4 years the British Army is predicted to have saved over 10 tonne of CO2 emissions just by switching from hexi to FireDragon.
On his first public visit to Wales after the death of his beloved father, The Prince of Wales visited BCB International in Cardiff. The Prince of Wales was warm and jovial and keen to try out the survival products and PPE invented and manufactured by BCB International.
BCB International Managing Director, Andrew Howell:
“For the last five years we have been producing a solid fuel tablet made from bio-ethanol used by British Troops to warm their rations and heat their drinks. The fuel has anti-bacterial properties, so we decided to develop a hand sanitiser gel variant.”
The Prince of Wales went onto say :
“It is a great tribute to your efforts… I know how hard you worked throughout this pandemic…I do congratulate you and am full of gratitude, for what it’s worth, for what you’ve been able to do, for all of us, really, during these difficult times.” HRH Prince Charles.
Final note from Managing Director Andrew Howell.
“As His Royal Highness has said for over 4 decades, climate change and the erosion of biodiversity are the two greatest threats to humanity and our planet. As we have with FireDragon firelighters and some of our other life-saving innovations we are ready, willing and able to take a risk and to make a change to try to help counter these threats.”
“On behalf of the whole great BCB team we will continue to invent, engineer and produce whatever we can, to help tackle this global emergency of climate change and the erosion of biodiversity.”
FireDragon can be purchased from Amazon, B&Q and selected Go Outdoors stores. You’ll also find it at several garden centres and camping stores. For a full list of stockists and to find one near you simply head to FireDragon website.
Disclosure – I haven’t been compensated for sharing this article today. Whilst I was offered some sample products to try I declined as I don’t have an open fire or a solid fuel barbecue. I still wanted to share the information though as it seems such a simple change to make and could really make a big difference.
