For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I’m starting pull things back together this week. Partly it’s because I’m too busy to think about how I’ve been feeling, not great in the long run but it’ll do for just now, but also because I’ve been putting some coping mechanisms into place and have got through an event I didn’t really was worrying me so much.
Here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:

- A nice chill day at work. It will all change soon but at the moment work really is where I go for some peace and quiet and a bit of calm. I like the structure and have great friends. It has its moments but generally it’s all very straight forward and calm.
My finished embroidery hoop - Doing some crafting. I find it hard to make times for things like this but I do really enjoy it. This particular project started out as our initials, but as I started with the S and L saw it, he demanded a snake, so I rolled with it.
He’s a cute little villian - Taking a Super Villain to nursery. He’s hilarious. He could have been a super hero but no, not my boy, he’d rather be a villain.
Warming up cold hands - A nice chilled out morning with L before heading into work. I’m not a fan of working weekends but I know it’s good for the boys to have some time alone with each other and I like seeing them enjoy themselves when I’m gone.
Dancing Diggers - Taking L to see The Dancing Diggers at the weekend. He loves JCBs and he was enthralled watching them perform. We watched them twice! We had a really lovely day at the Game and Country Fair and it couldn’t have been much better. Warmer, yes, but better, not really.
He definitely looks better in my hat than I do - Treating myself to a new bobble hat. No it’s not the season but it is all fleece lined and so snug. Plus I love the oversized teal bobble. Plus it was so flipping cold and I was so woefully under prepared at the weekend it was an actual necessity.
Watching the owls. He liked the grumpy one at the back. - Having a meeting with nursery about getting L prepared for school. It’s good to know we’re all in the same place and to see how hard they work preparing him for this change helps put my mind at rest. Though I do think the meeting was focused on the wrong person, he’s prepared for school and will do great, me on the other hand. Hmmmmm. Well I’ll be a mess.
Of course you need an ice cream in the bitter cold - L was ill during the night, really ill. I have been worrying about him getting sick as he hasn’t been ill for so long. Of course just before we are due to go away the timing seemed about perfect! So the relief this morning that he was absolutely fine really washed through me. It was short lived mind, as I had barely any sleep, to find him full of beans was taxing.
- Our neighbours getting their fence replaced. It was the only bit of fencing in our garden that needed it and it looked awful and really bothered husb. Plus the guys who are doing the work are fab and will be able to help us out with a few bits we need doing.
Playing at the park - A lovely sunny walk up to our local park to play for a bit. Perfect way to spend the afternoon.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK, #BestandWorst & #CoolMumClub just because I love them.

Ah hope L wasn’t too bad. My youngest and I have been puking this week and it is vile. LOvely to get some time for crafts and yes I was a mess when my eldest started school – though she has been fine. Thanks for sharing with #bloggersbest x

I found the cause of his sickness, he’d found some sweets and eaten them all hiding the evidence in his underwear draw. Little humbug. Hope you are both feeling better!
Sorry you haven’t been feeling great Bryony. Hopefully focusing on all these positives helped. Plus that lovely new hat and crafting – it’s so important to do things for yourself that make you happy xx
