Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #125

For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I’m going to be honest with you. I don’t know how much longer I can carry on being this busy for. I almost cried today at the thought of cuddling a puppy that had come to visit work. Random crying is a sure fire way to tell me I need to slow down, the only problem is, at the moment at least I don’t know how or when I can. Needless to say I did not meet said puppy, wasn’t worth the risk of a full blown, impossible to explain, sobfest.

Here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:

Feeling Calm
Honestly these two are just too cute
  1. Being able to go into work early on Thursday and safe the day. Being the only parent in the team it’s not often I get to be that helpful but my Dad had arrived early to look after L at the moment my manager messaged needing some help, so I was able to pop in a bit early. They are so flexible with me it’s nice to be able to repay that when I can.

We were ready for Daddy
  1. L got a fabulous delivery from Bookabees, review coming soon, seeing his face when he got home and saw his perfectly selected books was such a treat. One of them he had borrowed from the library a few times before and was so pleased he now had his own copy.
Feeling Calm
Very ready!
  1. Classic moment of finding boy and cat asleep together. Heart melting! It’s cute how close they are.
Feeling Calm
VW Whitenoise
  1. Saturday morning L and I played in the garden for a bit, then we filled his tractor up with water balloons and made daddy regret ever leaving to play golf. I think this is now our new thing, it makes us both very happy. Daddy less so, but two out of three is a win, right?!
Feeling Calm
Being a Flamingo
  1. Spending Sunday morning at VW Whitenoise Festival, just me and L. We had a little look at all the vehicles, enjoyed an amazing slush and even bought a few bits. L really wanted to go on the fairground rides but they weren’t open in the morning so we headed off before the rain.
Feeling Calm
It went right above our heads! So cool!
  1. Sunday afternoon we grabbed Daddy and went to the zoo, we even got to watch the animal show which we hadn’t done in ages. Part of the display was one of the birds whacking a plastic snake on the ground to kill it, I haven’t seen L belly laugh quite so much before, it was brilliant!
Feeling Calm
I’m usually a whatever the weather kind of a girl, but this was too much
  1. Monday was just the wettest of days, L wanted to put on his ‘protective gear’ and go for a walk, which normally I would be up for, but our road was flooding so I persuaded to have a cuddle and watch a movie instead. We ended up just watching the lightning and listening for thunder, so it was a good call to stay in. It was nice just being cuddled up and watching the weather.
Feeling Calm
LIterally just the two of us
  1. Tuesday morning L and I headed into Norwich to see Thomas and Friends at the cinema. We had the whole screen to ourselves. It was brilliant. L really enjoyed himself and he was super cute sharing his popcorn with me.
Feeling Calm
I have loved finding all the Hares
  1. Walking round Norwich to find a few more Go Go Hares, we’re over half way now. We might just tick them all off but it’s going to be a challenge. I have got seriously into it this year and am desperate to go and visit all 50 City Hares and I would rather like to get the 18 County Hares as well, though that may be too much of a challenge. It’s been a really nice thing to share with L.
Feeling Calm
Play Time
  1. Spending the afternoon building and playing with some Lego I had picked up in Norwich for L. I enjoy being able to treat him to little things and we’d had such a good day I couldn’t help but spoil him. We really did have just the best day.

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK, #BestandWorst & #CoolMumClub just because I love them.
