For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I’ve still found myself feeling quite anxious this week, with work coming and going I’ve found it hard to find some status quo, but I’ve been concentrating on myself a bit more, taking some time out, cycling, meditating and writing my journal, so as ever it has been therapeutic to pick my 10 moments from this week and here they are;
Going out for a bike ride and getting drenched, not only was it just really funny but I was quite proud of myself for still going out, despite the weather.
Watching Bridge of Spies. Has anyone else seen it? It is a brilliant film, I loved it, best film I’ve seen in ages and so nice to watch something that wasn’t animated!!
Going round the in-laws for lunch and being looked after and actually getting to relax whilst someone else chased after they boy for a bit.
Going for a family cycle ride at the weekend, L fell asleep again but woke up just as we got the local shop and asked for a magazine, which I’d promised him as a bribe days ago and thought he’d forgotten about.
Discovering Downton Abbey, obviously I was aware of it before but I just never watched, now I’m binge watching it from the beginning.
Having a really fun morning at the zoo, just me and L, we had a lovely sunny morning running round and looking at the ‘raffes and ‘diles, also known as giraffes and crocodiles, only problem is we never got as far as the giraffe enclosure and the crocodile is a model, didn’t seem to bother the boy though.
My tired little boy falling asleep on me, I cannot remember the last time he did that when he wasn’t ill, needless to say I lapped it up and sent various gloaty messages to husb whilst firmly telling him he could only enter the house through the back door and most definitely couldn’t steal my cuddles.
Hanging out with my sister for the morning, it was nice to have a chat and a catch up
A lovely swimming lesson, I think I have may have made an error and signed him up to a higher level when I was rebooking the new term as our new teacher seemed to be expecting a lot of him (like the ability to swim) but he seemed to respond really well to it, so I’m keeping my mouth shut.
Booking tickets to see Top Gun at an outdoor cinema being held at one of our local National Trust properties, Blicking Hall, it’s not until September but I’m really excited, I’ve always wanted to go to an outdoor cinema.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week, it helps keep me focused and happy and is a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
