For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I am running on empty but the end is in sight, the end of term and a few days off for everyone, hurrah!
Here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:
1 – Catching a beautiful sunrise, so pretty! It was a great way to start the day and left me in a good mood.
2 – A bit of after school baking with the boy, well not baking, it was just a fridge job but he loved all the smashing of biscuits and stirring of chocolate. I would also put on money on it being a highlight of my workmates day as they all got a slice the next day!
3 – Husb being away for the night as it was his work Christmas meal, so I got the sofa and remote to myself, well I shared with the cat but he’s fairly easy going on the TV front. I also got loads of work done which was nice.
4 – It was Christmas Jumper day at the school and L looked so smart. It was lovely seeing all the kids dressed up and so excited, a really nice atmosphere in the playground that morning.
5 – L and I had a busy morning running errands in town, we had parcels to collect, parcels to send and a tight schedule. It was weirdly enjoyable and we got to have a lovely chat as we scooted about from place to place.
6 – We got to watch L at the first birthday party he’s been to with all his new school friends, it was interesting to see how they all interact with each other and also nice to see how far he has come. He’s become braver and was joining in more than he would have ever done before.
7 – My work Christmas meal was fun. A bit of a giggle and nice to catch up outside of work. Plus, we got one of our old team mates to come along, so for me it was just a bit of a girls night as both my usual partners in gin related crime were there.
8 – A fun day at work twinning with my manager, we had the same Christmas jumpers on, Let Christmas Be Gin, even the same name badges as she had forgotten hers and I have a spare. So there were two ginny Briony’s in the team, ha!
9 – When L started school in September all the kids were given buddies from Year 6 and L has absolutely idolised his buddy. I swear this poor lad is the sole reason L has gone to school on many occasions. Anyway, his buddy came up to L in the playground in the morning and gave him a little Christmas present. Nothing we can give will match whatever is in the gift, it made his day/week/whole entire life! How kind.
10 – L’s last day of term! Super pleased as it means we all get a well deserved break, but he also had a little Christmas Party and just seeing him after school with all his friends, saying good bye and saying Merry Christmas to each other and just all buzzing about was the nicest thing.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK just because I love them.
