Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #144

For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I treated myself to some time off blogging over the Christmas break, it was nice to relax in the evenings and just chill out. I’m now more cheese than human and ready for the New Year and normal routines!

Here are my top ten moments from the last 14 days:

Feeling Calm

1 Р First day of the school holidays and my parents nabbed the kid. So Husb and I made the most of it, heading to Wells for a long walk along the coast and chips for lunch. Lush.

2 – Taking L to see some very special Christmas lights in a nearby town. An entire close had got together and decorated their homes and set up a charity collection point, it was amazing!

Feeling Calm

3 – Going to see my Aunt with L and my sister. It was nice to all catch up and she really appreciated the visit. It’s given me the kick I need to make sure I go to see her more often. Plus I got to hang out with my sister on the last day she was pregnant as the following evening we got the call to say that those Braxton Hicks she’d been feeling during our lunch together weren’t Braxton Hicks at all!

Feeling Calm

4 – Becoming an Aunt. I’m very proud of my sister and now I have a gorgeous little niece whom L is determined is his sister and he won’t have it any other way.

5 – We had such a fun Christmas Eve. We opened the doors and anyone who wanted could pop by. So L’s best friend visited in the morning and they played as us grown ups chatted. My family came over to see us and watch L open his presents from them. My bestie came over and had a chat and drink. In the evening some more of our friends popped in to see us and enjoy a drink and a chat. It was super informal and a really nice way to spend the day.

6 – Christmas Day was lovely. Just the three of us and despite the fact we had very little sleep as L was very excitable we had a great day. We were all spoilt with lovely gifts and spent the day playing with them, enjoyed a lovely walk and a nice lunch. It was great.

Feeling Calm

7 – We spent Boxing Day with the in laws which is always lovely for me as I’m looked after for the day. My mother in law is a lovely woman who gets just how tired I am and makes sure I get a bit of a break whenever I visit. It was a perfect day of family, food, games and fun. Oh and we swung by my sister’s on the way to meet the baby, eek, so cute.

Feeling Calm

8 – We had a lovely family day at the coast and actually got to see the Lifeboat at Cromer coming back into it’s home at the end of the Pier. It was a sight to see and I’m so happy that we got to witness it. Amazing!

Feeling Calm

9 – Having some fun at the park before heading home. We are creatures of habit and whenever we go to Cromer we park in the same spot and walk the same walks, visit the same chip shop and essentially repeat the same visit time and time again. But as I wasn’t feeling very well we decided to park in the town centre and do things differently, all this meant we happened upon a playground we didn’t know existed and ended up there having a blast!

Feeling Calm

10 – I spent New Year’s at work. Both New Year’s Eve and Day I was holding the fort, it was how I managed to score 4 days off over Christmas, so I don;t mind. Plus, as I’ve been unwell I wouldn’t have done anything at home. It has meant that husb and L have had loads of time together which is great, so whilst I got to update husb about my crazy customers during the day he got to update me with their adventures and it was lovely!

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK  just because I love them.
