Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #15

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

Towards the end half of last week I was still feeling quite anxious, but I’ve picked myself up and am now back to me. The weather is good, the sun is shining and I’m feeling great. I’ve still found it therapeutic to pick my 10 moments from the past 7 days and here they are;

Lots of puddles to jump in

  1. Arranging to take part in a JCB Kids Twitter party, L is going to love me when that parcel arrives, I can’t wait to see his face.
  2. Persuading the other half to do the nursery run for me, he’s going that way any way and I can’t stand the tears, I need a break.

  3. Watching a mid afternoon storm, I love a good storm and there were bolts of lightning running through the sky. Amazing.
  4. Baking a scrummy cake and then being good enough to not eat it all.
  5. A really fun family trip to the zoo, it was lovely to all spend time together doing something fun.

  6. Watching L ‘help’ wash the cars, this was great because I wasn’t involved but a lot of water was!! Seeing the aftermath of him learning how to use the spray gun on the hose was priceless.
  7. Going on a long cycle ride and finding the prettiest route ever that even includes a ford, which L loved, especially when my feet got wet.
  8. Losing some more weight, it’s coming off week by week which is really good.

  9. Another good swim lesson, a lot more free swimming and climbing into the pool by himself, if I have accidentally popped him the wrong class it’s worked out well.
  10. Spending 15 minutes on my own in the garden with a G&T, just enjoying the sun and the relative peace and quiet.

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week, it helps keep me focused and happy and is a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

  1. I have thought about keeping a daily journal. I used to long ago but for some reason gave it up. It’s good to keep track of the positives and remind yourself they really do exist if only in little bits throughout the day sometimes. I’m visiting from #BloggerClubUK.

    1. I have enjoyed starting my journal and I keep it short, I write down one thing that made me feel calm that day, one thing I’m grateful for and my three highlights from the day. Sometimes I go free flow at the end just to get some of the negativity out as well, but I like to know that three good things happen everyday! Xx
