For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I still haven’t got that balance quite right at the moment, things are improving but life can be a struggle at times! I didn’t even do my round up last week, so it’s good to be back. At least it’s half term and I’ve got my kid back for a few days of fun.
Here are my top ten moments from the last 14 days:
1 – There was a Reading Cafe at the school for L’s class. We all got to go in and watch as the kids had a story read to them, then we all got to take part in an activity. So L and I made a Fire Engine out of a cardboard box that he got to bring home. It was a nice way to spend time in school with him.
2 – On the Thursday L managed less than 20 minutes at school before I got a call to go pick him up. Thankfully I hadn’t left for work yet and they were super accommodating, as they always are. He had got a viral conjunctivitis, no drops required but no going to school for the rest of the week either. Whilst stressful having to miss work it was lovely getting some extra time with an essentially healthy child.
3 – We got to spend our Saturday at Roar!! Dinosaur Adventure. It’s a fave of ours anyway but we were invited to review it officially which was fab and we had a blast.
4 – A lovely relaxing Sunday chilling out doing a puzzle before heading to the shops for a few bits and the driving range as a treat for the boys. Then back home for a movie and a cuddle.
5 – Monday we caught up with some friends after school which was just lovely. The kids got to have a good play whilst I got to have a good chat with a friend. I had to wash L before we went out though, lords knows what he;d been up to at school but he was filthy.
6 – L discovered the Red Arrows documentary series that has been on TV recently. We had to watch it all together and he was absolutely fascinated, filled with questions and as you can see, could not get close enough to the TV. Made a nice change from All Hail King Julien!
7 – L had a Daddy day at the beach whilst I was at work making up my missed hours. I always love seeing them have time together, especially fin time. More than anything I was just grateful that I was able to go into work and make up my missed hours no questions asked. I am so lucky to have a flexible employer.
8 – Sunday we popped to see my parents. L was nervous as he hadn’t seen his grandad since the operation and I don’t think he knew what to expect at all, I actually think it would have been easier visiting dad in hospital as L is actually quite used to that. We then popped to see the inlaws and all went to the park together which was a nice way to end the day.
9 – First proper day of half term and we got some more family visits ticked off, my grandparents, L great grandparents got to have some play time. L misses seeing them as regularly as we used to. We also popped to his old nursery to see the girls and have lunch with his key worker. He really loves going to see her and had been asking if we would be able to as it was the school holidays. We also popped to the park in the rain, it made the slide super slippy and fun.
10 – After waiting patiently by the window for half the day L got a massive delivery of toys, he was delighted! There’ll be a review live soon.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK just because I love them.
