Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #158

For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

Well, well, well it’s been a week. Everything was plodding along nicely then it all imploded. It’s always fun to be the focus of a family argument that results in tears and people walking out of a cafe without paying. I’m not handling things particularly well at the moment, but this is my happy place, so we won’t dwell on it again.

Here are my top ten moments from the last couple of weeks:

Feeling calm walking
Love our after school walks

1 –  Catching up with my sister and getting lots of lovely cuddles and giggles with my little niece. A very nice way to spend the morning, plus the sneaky McDonalds Breakfast I grabbed for us both was a real treat!

Bluebells
Pretty Bluebells

2- L and I went for a lovely walk through the fields after school, we saw two tractors and found some Bluebells. I love going for a walk with him after school, it’s a great way for us both to relax.

Testing out the loungers in between rain showers

3 – For a long time I have been hankering after some loungers for the garden. I’d seen a great deal on Wowcher and treated myself to a pair and they got delivered, they day the weather changed for the worse. It didn’t stop us testing them out though, it was funny!

4 – In between a morning of weekend housework we turned the music up and completely rocked out. It was brilliant fun and I love that the child is developing his own tastes in music.

Golf
My Mum at the Driving Range, a never seen before sight

5- We caught up with my parents and had a nice meal at our favourite haunt. Then L took them to the driving range to show of his skills and everyone took a turn. L hadn’t spent any real time with them for ages, only catching up in hospital waiting rooms, so it was really good for him.

Walking
We did not find deer and it was very cold

6 – We headed out across the fields on a deer hunt. L is obsessed with getting to see some wild deer, not enough to get up early in the morning and go walking which is what he needs to do, but regardless I’m always happy to get out and about with him.

7 – I worked a full shift on the Bank Holiday Monday. They are the only days I can easily do extra, so it’s nice to know I’ve helped out at work and earned some extra cash. It’s also great for some father and son time. They spent the whole day together doing fun stuff.

Jumping in puddles
Playing in the rain

8 – Grandad’s internment was a miserable day in many ways. Picking the kid up from school and watching him make the most of the miserable weather was just what I needed. So we splashed and got soaked and then came indoors to cuddle up and watch TV. Pretty much every hug the kid got that day was definitely more for me than it was for him!

feeling calm on a Spa day
Spa time

9 – I got to spend an entire Sunday hanging out with one of my best friends. We went for a spa day, enjoyed a fabulous massage, swam, steamed and sauna’d. We really and truly relaxed. Then we went to the pub for nibbles and a drink before heading home to our husbands and offspring. It was wonderful.

10 – The weather has improved again and so my new loungers were taken out straight after school and we have been spending loads of time in the garden, I even started a new book. I mean I only got four pages in before L emptied an entire watering can over his head, but the thought of sunny evenings reading is so close!

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK  just because I love them.
