Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #159

For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

Things have been a bit better this week. The sun is shining and I have been making a conscious effort to look after myself, it’s been worth it. I know I’ve a tough time ahead, since we got a new manager at work we’ve had two team members hand in their notice. We’re a team of 5 including our manager. It’s about to get rocky, but there’s nothing I can do about that. Just got to stay positive.

Here are my top ten moments from the last week:

Feeling Calm
Hanging in the garden with his bestie

1 –  The sun returned so the kid and I were straight into the garden after school and work. He played and I even started a new book, craziness! It was so relaxing.

2- Once a month I head to the pub with some of the school mums for craft night. This month it was water colours and I was pretty pleased with my efforts. Plus it’s just nice to have a drink and a catch up.

PJ Day

3 – It was PJ day at school, very exciting for L. He loved getting to go to school in has jammies. Then we popped to a friend’s house straight after school and the boys had a great time playing together, great way to start the weekend.

4 – We were so lucky to get to go the launch of the new Treetop Tangles at BeWILDerwood. We had an ace day exploring and playing, L loved it and can’t wait to go back.

5- I finally got to meet my lovely blogging friend Sonia at the BeWILDerwood event. We had no idea we would both be there and then parked next to each other in the carpark!! It’s always nice to meet an online friend in real life.

Racing in the zip lines

6 – Sunday we headed off to catch up with some of our oldest friends and visit their new house. It was great to have a catch up and we enjoyed a lovely walk by the sea. They live in a beautiful area and their house is stunning.

7 – After putting an exhausted child to bed Husb and I actually got a chance to have a talk and a catch up. It sounds like a silly thing to mention, but time so easily whizzes by with us both being busy and just existing making the time to talk is super important.

A lovely walk at the coast with friends

8 – My friend launched her amazing new website selling her original and bespoke Disney themed clothes and accessories. I love it and I am so proud of her. Definitely go check it out, you’ll find all the goodies at townsquarestudios.com

I loved the beach huts

9 – I had a very enjoyable day at home looking after myself. I had a lovely walk in the sun. I watched some TV and caught up on some work. It was very cathartic.

Hard not to be happy with views like this when you’re out walking

10 – L had a friend over to play after school. It’s been nice watching new friendships blossom and living so close to the school that we can have such lovely afternoons with very little organising needed.

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK  just because I love them.
