For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
It’s been another hectic one. I cannot wait for the summer holidays just so that I don’t have to negotiate all the school goings ons. I swear I have more school related paperwork and form filling in to do than I have for the rest of my life combined and that’s coming from someone who had just sorted out all the insurance renewals!
Here are my top ten moments from the last week:

1 – We had our monthly craft night at the pub. It was fab. I have always found being creative helps me feel calm, this night wasn’t about that however. The art wasn’t my thing, a bit of abstract in the style of Kandinsky, but I really needed the chat with my friends and was super honest about how badly I have been coping recently and got all the support I needed.

2- All L wanted to do after school on Thursday was cuddle. I don’t know if anything had happened, he said not, or if he was just really tired? Whatever the reason he wouldn’t leave my side. He wasn’t his usual hyperactive self, he was really quiet and calm. It was actually kind of nice as I was tired myself, so we just cuddled up and did very little.

3 – I had a sneaky Friday off work, very unusual. It meant that I got to catch up with an old friend of mine who I don’t to see very often as we work opposite ends of the week. We had cake and a catch up and she managed to confuse the girls in the cafe into thinking that it was my birthday so they sang to me and popped a candle in my cake!!

4 – The weather turned back to beautiful for the weekend which was handy as we went to a vintage tractor fair with my sister and my parents. L had a great time and even won a free glitter tattoo, that he is still sporting, he won’t let me wash it off!

5- L and I popped out for a little bit on Father’s Day morning so Daddy could have some time to himself. We had such a lovely time. A little trip to the toy store, grabbed a bit of shopping and then L asked to visit Great Mond at the cemetery so we did. It was really nice and really sad all at the same time, but I’m glad he felt he could ask and honestly I’m glad of the company too. We also found a massive beetle, so that was quite exciting.

6 – Daddy and L went to the driving range in the afternoon, I had a spree voucher for range balls so they went a little further than they would usually. It was lovely to see L so excited about it and husb enjoyed himself as well. Any excuse for a bit of golf. L insisted that I came too but I ended up spending the whole time in the car completely not missed by anyone!

7 – The highlight of Father’s Day for husb was watching a film with L and just relaxing for a bit on the sofa. It was a really busy day, we did lots of little things, so to just sit down and spend some time with the kid who had declared himself part of Team Daddy for the day was a great way to end it.

8 – I treated husb and I to a nice dinner on Sunday night, steak for him and a fancy spinach and ricotta pizza for me, a bottle of wine and some time with no tech and actual conversation. It was a good end to a long weekend.

9 – I had a good day on Monday, managing to get loads of little jobs done. Even hanging the washing out on the line in the sunshine before I started work.

10 – I went out for the day with a friend of mine and her daughter. We visited Earsham Wetland Centre and got so close to the deer. It was nice to just enjoy a lovely walk and a good slice of cake.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK just because I love them.
