Feeling Calm

Feeling Calm #166

For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a great book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday since and on Wednesday’s (or late on a Tuesday) I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I’ve had a great week. A couple of incredibly stressful things have happened, but overall it’s been bloody brilliant and the best is yet to come as it’s school holidays!!!! I’m one of those annoying parents that genuinely loves the holidays.

Here are my top ten moments from the last week:

Craft night
My giraffe

1 –  Wednesday night was our monthly craft night at the pub. This month was collage and drawing inspiration from my son I collaged a giraffe. I’m quite pleased with him.

CUDDLES
CUDDLES!

2- A little after school cuddle with the boy and cat was all I needed to make a tough day at work better. It’s been a bit stressful on the on front recently but I only work short days and they’re easily forgotten with a cuddle.

Happy boy
Soaking wet, covered in cream pie but so happy

3 – Friday night was the school leavers disco and despite the torrential rain and a jolly good soaking we had a blast. L got to go play with his friends, I go to seek shelter and have a glass of wine with mine. It ended with L getting to ‘pie’ his year 6 buddy, whom he adores. It was a lovely evening and no one let the weather get in the way.

Holkham Country Fair
Enjoying our warm welcome at Holkham Country Fair

4 – Saturday L and I headed off to the Holkham Country Fair. It was brilliant, we had an absolute blast. Just me and my boy hanging out and having fun.

Parachute display
AMAZING!

5 – The parachute display at the fair was epic. I hadn’t ever watched anything like that before, not in real life. Their skill is superb. L’s little face watching them fall from the sky was a picture too.

Ferris Wheel time
Can you tell I was having fun!?

6 – Riding the Ferris Wheel with L. He is scared of heights (as am I but I would never let him know that) but wanted to try it anyway, which is soooooo brave. So he cuddled in and up and round we went, and round, and round! It was really good fun and now we apparently have to go on every single Ferris Wheel we see anywhere for the rest of our lives. Not a bad tradition to start really.

Broke FMX Stunt riders
Loved this display!!

7 – Watching the Broke FMX display. I love a bit of motorbike action and stunt bikes have always been a fave of mine so I was super excited to share this with L and he loved it as much as me. He was in awe of them, clapping and cheering.

feeling calm at the beach
Can’t beat an ice cream at the beach!

8 – Sunday we headed to the beach and had a little walk, a fish and chip lunch and an ice cream. It was a lovely day and fun to just chill with him. Plus husb was super jealous of all the fun we’d had without him on Saturday and wanted to get in on the day trip action.

feeling calm at the park
Loved the fishy entrance to the park

9 – During our trip to the beach we found a park and playground we didn’t know existed despite practically walking by the entrance about a million times before. It had a great play area and wasn’t as hectic as the seafront so made for a nice little stop off.

Feeling calm sunset
Watching the sunset

10 – Tuesday evening I snuck out of the house and settled on my garden chair to enjoy the sunset for a few minutes. I probably only got ten minutes to myself before I was needed again, but it was blissful.

I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. It helps keep me focused, calm and therefore happy. It is also a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.

I’m linking up with #BloggerClubUK  just because I love them.
