For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
I’ve had a pretty good week this week. I hand fed an actual Lemur, doesn’t get much better than that but to balance things out I’ve been up half the night with the little one and now I’ve got a stomach bug, can’t have it all!!
I’m feeling rather sorry for myself as I type, husb being particularly thoughtless this morning, was just annoyed about how me being ill has impacted on him, he had to half dress the child, take him to nursery and that meant he couldn’t cycle to work, oh what a shame, I spent most of last night hugging a bucket, boo hoo! So not only do I feel better for my mini rant it’s also been lovely to write about lovely things I’ve done this last week. Here are my top 10 moments from the past 7 days;
The truly random weather we’ve been having, snow, hail, rain, sun all in one day. It has been fun to watch.
Being nominated for a Leibster Award by New Mummy Blog, I’m pretty certain I don’t actually qualify, but it’s still lovely to be thought of.
Making a set of very sparkly canvas prints for L’s room.
Finishing my old journal and getting to start a new one, nothing like cracking open a new, untarnished notepad or journal, all those blank pages to be filled, the pretty cover, the new book smell, mmm.
My sister telling me that she can’t blow a raspberry, seriously, who can’t blow a raspberry. This conversation carried on for quite some time and has involved several mocking videos via Whats App.
A lovely walk to the park and back, being chased by a toy crocodile that was eating my bum!! Anyone walking by must have thought I was an idiot but L and I had so much fun, as did the rest of the family who got to witness the madness.
Treating L to an ice cream at the zoo, it was lovely and sunny and he was being such a cutey we stopped to treat him, the look on his face was priceless, he was so happy. Best of all he felt bad that he had and ice cream and daddy had an ice cream but I didn’t, so he kept sharing it with me, I’ve got a good one there. It just proves that it’s the little things that matter.
Getting to hand feed a Lemur!! We went to Shorelands Wildlife Gardens on the Bank Holiday Monday with the in laws and the owner let us feed some of the animals, it was amazing, and to be included in the £3 entry was mind blowing. Lemurs are really gentle and have very soft noses, I now want a Lemur of my very own.
Watching L feeding a Marmoset, he got a bit scared and just chucked the food towards the Marmoset like he does when he feeds the chickens at his grandparents, but he was very brave and actually asked to feed the Lemur and held out his hand (with help) and let it eat of him. It was wonderful seeing him with the animals and watching him get a bit braver. I also want a Marmoset of my own, I had space in my bag for a little one, but I resisted.
Getting confirmation of our day trips for when we are in Devon, I love a good holiday and now I get to plan our days a bit, so excited!
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week, it helps keep me focused and happy and is a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
