For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
This week has certainly been a come down after our holiday, with a toddler who has just been unbelievably tired, both the other half and I being so busy with work and just getting back into our routines whilst dealing with some really horrible weather has not been fun.
It’s not all be bad though, here are my top 10 moments from the past 7 days;
Being sent to my local Hobbycraft, with a budget, in preparation for Father’s Day. It’s was lovely getting to wander round uninterrupted and to have a really good chat with the staff, Ellie was awesome.
Watching L show his Grandad how to be a snail, I was crying with laughter. Snails half crawl and half hop around the floor and if you ever wondered what sound a snail makes, well I can now tell you, a snail goes ‘snail, snail, snail’ in a very high pitched squeaky voice.
Sorting all my holiday pictures into an album, I love going through all our family snaps.
Getting invited to the Herbert Woods 90th Anniversary VIP event, a night out with canapes and cocktails and a chance to get all dressed up, whoop!
Enjoying a lovely long family cycle ride in the sun, such a nice way to spend the morning.
Taking a trip to Thetford Forest, enjoying an ice cream and having a really good explore.
A lovely trip to our local zoo, L took a fab picture of a Marmoset with my phone, so proud of him. We also got really close to a very inquisitive Cheetah.
Playing L’s new game, racing cars, he stands at one side of the room going vroom, vroom whilst I sit at the other end waiting. He then runs at me full pelt, before crashing, knocking me down, giving me a kiss and pulling me back up to do it all again.
Whilst trying to get some work done, L coming to visit me at my desk, climbing up onto my lap and ‘helping’ me type so mummy could be done faster. It of course made me ten times slower but it was super cute and that’s why I work from home.
Playing another new game from the mind of L. He jumps up and down on our bed pretending to be various times of dinosaur, big, small, baby, sneaky, loud etc. We have to lie on the bed with our eyes closed, if we do not close our eyes voluntarily he will do this for us, with pokey little eye gouging fingers. Then one of the many dinosaurs will jump us, roaring and giggling.
I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week, it helps keep me focused and happy and is a great way to keep a note of the things we’ve done.
