For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
This week has been all about illness, ugh! I dropped a perfectly healthy child off at nursery on Friday to get the dreaded ‘he’s got a temperature’ call a few hours later. He made it through the day at nursery quite nicely, saving the fevers, coughs, vomiting and general illness for us over the weekend. Yeah, Mother’s Day was a blast I’m lying. Then just as I thought he was getting better my sinuses tried to make my head explode and he went straight back to being ill again.

The joy of working from home means I don’t have to worry about him not being able to go to nursery and rush around sorting out babysitters and such forth, it just means I’m really behind where I should be this week. Hopefully he’ll be back to normal soon.
So here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days:
- Having a nice walk around Norwich by myself before a meeting and treating myself to a bath bomb from Lush. Even if I had to share said bath bomb with L the next day, it was shaped like a ladybird so he demanded a ‘ladybird bath’.
It doesn’t matter how ill you feel, a fire engine will always help - Meeting up with a friend for a good old catch up.
- Little man wanting me to read his bedtime story not his daddy, yey!
- Finding a new place we can go for a walk, with a farm shop that serves lunch, on a random ‘please dear god nap’ drive.
- After waking at stupid o’clock L actually falling back asleep in our bed, burning with fever, but happy to just be next to us.
You don’t get much more chilled that that! - In a random moment of brightness L and I had an epic dance about that ended in an exhausted pile of giggles and happiness.
- Lots and lots of slightly unwell, sleepy cuddles and an equal amount of Disney Pixar movies. If there is any plus side to your kids being ill, cuddles are it. He even fell asleep on me, adorable!
- Having a Fish & Chip supper, there’s nothing better than a little treat like this, especially after a few hard days when you just can’t face cooking.
Cat +iPad = content toddler & peace for mummy - Getting a new Social Media client, I’m going to be soooooo busy now and this job is going to push me to my limit, forcing me to learn new skills and improve old ones, I’m even going to run seminars. Actually stand in front of people and talk. It;s fair to say I’m as scared as I am excited.
- Being the featured post from last week’s #TheBabyFormula linky over on New Mummy Blog!! I’m trying hard to get more involved in the blogging community and it’s little things like this that make me really feel part of it and so chuffed.
It doesn’t matter how ill you feel, if you close your eyes for second chaos will ensue
It’s weeks like this, weeks that have pushed my patience and health to it’s limits that I’m really glad I write down a few positives from each day and then go back through them each week. OK I may have written down I was grateful for Calpol on more than one day this week but there have been so many amazing things happen to me, like a new client that will push me even further towards having a successful business, and they need celebrating and to not be forgotten, drowned in a sea of small negatives that build up and up.

Calpol has definitely been our friend recently! Xx
Also I have no idea why the ‘I’ letter is missing from the words in my last comment… Very very strange!
What a great idea this is! Hope you are all feeling better now. I got a ladybird Lush thing for Mother’s Day, love it! Congrats on being the featured blog, it’s so lovely when you get recognised. And the new client sounds very exciting. #BloggerClubUK
To be fair that Ladybird bath thing would have been wasted on just me, it made him so happy. I’m felling back to strength now, same can’t be said for the little one though, this has really taken it out of him. I hate it when he’s ill, but I do love those extra cuddles. xx
