For a very long time my husband has wanted to drive some very fast cars around a track. He’s always been a little jealous that I’ve been able to do some pretty awesome driving experiences and he misses his motorbike which he’s taken round a track more than once. So when Buyagift asked if we’d like to review one of their many experiences for Father’s Day I already had a good idea what I’d choose for him.

If any of you have ever had a browse through the Buyagift website you’ll know that they have a huge range of gifts for any occasion, recipient or budget. They often also have some amazing deals. So it was very helpful I already had an idea what I wanted to get for husb.

We opted for the Four Car Supercar Driving Blast with High Speed Passenger Ride it offered fantastic value being reduced from £316 to £149 and having had a look through the list of locations there were several nearby and one at an airfield 15 minutes down the road from us. When it comes to the driving experiences it’s all down to the miles you get on track. With this experience you got 12 miles, that’s actually quite a lot, 4 cars and 3 miles on track in each of them plus a high speed passenger lap.

So we ordered the voucher from Buyagift and it arrived in next to know time. The vouchers come in a little gift wallet and you can add a personalised note if you are sending direct to the recipient which I like. They vouchers themselves are printed up really nicely with a picture of the experience. You also get instructions on how to claim your experience and that is what we did next. I do need to add there is no rush to claim the experience, the voucher is valid for 20 months, I just had a very excited husband.

Our voucher was claimed through Car Chase Heroes. We had a huge selection of cars to choose from, all included in the voucher, there were also several rather special cars you could upgrade to for not much extra. There are a few different upgrades available actually, from the cars themselves to extra laps and insurance. We choose to add on the insurance at £25 just for our own peace of mind, husb also added on a sighting lap at £10 and he did upgrade two of the cars. In total we spent an extra £65.

We were shocked to be able get a date so close at the location we wanted, it all worked out perfectly. We also got the time slot we wanted 8.30am, having read all the reviews we had seen that a lot of people recommended getting early times, now we’ve experienced the day for ourselves I would also say the early slots are best as you do beat some of the queues that build as the day progresses.

When the day itself rolled round we had some of the worst weather we’ve seen all year. Torrential rain coming in sideways thanks to the wind. We were out on an airfield with absolutely no cover and with the wind they wouldn’t have been able to set up anything, it would have blown away. L and I spent the whole morning watching from inside the car whilst poor husband got soaked, absolutely soaked.

Whilst the weather may have taken the edge off the day he had an absolute blast. The day was well organised and whilst two of the cars he had chosen were unavailable they had already upgraded his choices free of charge and when due to the weather he was unable to go out in one of them, the Ariel Atom, they swapped him over to another vehicle without any trouble.

Throughout the day there was a photographer on site and they took videos of the laps, these were available to purchase on the day, we paid £40 to get all the images and videos from the day as digital files. There were other options, but due to the soaking poor husband had received he had neither the will nor the inclination to work out what he might have wanted and just went for the digital package so he could sit and look through them in the dry! To be fair, rain or not, I think he made the right call. He’s now got all images from the day that he can look back on whenever he wants and they are great, due to the licensing I haven’t been able to include them in this post but they are really good and well worth purchasing.

Overall husb had great day, he was absolutely buzzing from the experience and wants to go again! Obviously we would have had more fun if the weather had been better but it is England and you can’t plan these things. It is one of those experiences that he’s always going to remember and has certainly given him a taste for more. We enjoyed getting to watch all the cars go round the track, L was particularly delighted to see the Batmobile! We’d definitely do it again and purchasing from Buyagift was nice and easy.
