Fresh Blank Walls

Now that the building work is finished and the decorating is done we’re at the final stage of our build. Just flooring left and then actually moving into the rooms. Rooms with lovely, big, fresh, blank walls. Walls crying out to to be filled.

The spare room is going to be my room. A craft room, an office, a space for me to get on with my work and have some quiet. I have picked out some lovely blinds, painted the walls and know that I will be moving my hand painted bureau in.

We need to buy a Futon, just in case people do ever stay, but also it will be nice to have somewhere comfy for me to curl up and read or sew. I also want to get a comfortable office chair, but that can wait.

Furniture wise I know what I want from this room, but I need to put something on the walls. More than just my pinboard and the practical things that go with a home office.

The canvas

Because it is more than just a home office, it’s also a craft room, a guest bedroom and my place of solitude. So it needs to be personal, but not family photos personal. I wanted to find that something in between.

So I have opted for a canvas from Parrot Print, they are a custom canvas printing site based in the UK.

I had recently taken a lovely landscape photo of L cycling into the sunrise. It’s pretty, it’s simple, it’s personal as I know it is L but not too much as he is only a tiny part of the picture and you can’t see his face. Just the vibe I was going for.

Hanging fitment

I asked for a 61 x 41cm canvas, a good size but not to huge, though Parrot Print can make a much, much larger canvas. Sent them the picture and waited. Their clever photo technicians actually changed my canvas size slightly to avoid having to crop the image, I love that they did this, as they know more than I when it comes to sizing.

I didn’t have to wait long until my canvas arrived and it is beautiful.

The print scaled up well and is still detailed despite the increase in size and being printed onto a canvas. It is just what I wanted and I’ve chosen the wall to hang it on. Not long now and I’ll actually be able to hang it, which will be easy as the hanging fitting is actually already on the canvas frame, something that is actually rather rare, you normally have to screw those in yourself.

I’m really impressed and it was super value for money, as I start to finish off the rooms, if I have more space to be filled I won’t hesitate to go back to Parrot Print.

Disclosure – I was gifted my canvas in return for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and images are my own.
