Join Norwich Theatre for some fun-packed family days and fantastic shows during the school holidays! From singing to crafting, science trails to TV stars, there are many ways for everyone to get involved this half term [25 – 29 October].
Norwich Theatre covers three stages in the city: Norwich Theatre Royal, Playhouse and Stage Two and all are getting involved. As the city celebrates its annual Science Festival, Norwich Theatre is excited to be joining in and exploring science through creativity!

Join us at Norwich Theatre Royal on Tuesday 26 October and Friday 29 October, 10am – 2pm for Family Open Days. Pick up a colouring activity, delve into the dressing up box, explore children’s books and create your own stories with puppets. A science trail around the front of house of will explore how science interacts with art, as children discover hidden tales and take part in exciting experiments. Pick up your first clue at the box office!
On both days starting at 1pm in the Circle Lounge, Norwich Theatre Royal, younger children age 2-4 can take a Trip to the Moon with Little People’s Drama, discovering what the moon is made of and rescuing a baby alien.

There are also bookable workshops taking place for children aged 5-11 at Stage Two, which sits behind Norwich Theatre Royal. Tuesday has Family Dance & Movement, which will combine movement games and taught choreography to explore the wonders of natural phenomena. On Friday we will turn plants into eco-paint as we become Natural Colour Explorers. Create a rainbow of natural colours and paint your own beautiful theatre-inspired still-life scene to take home. The colourful veg and flowers used in the sessions have kindly been supplied by Norwich Farmshare.
Other activities taking place over half term include the start of a new five-week programme called Movement and Music for Babies and Toddlers. Inspired by some of our shows and designed for you and your baby to have fun and move together, these sessions use a variety of music and multi- sensory props.

Introduce the youngest to the magic of theatre with two wonderful shows in Norwich Theatre Stage Two. Tír na nÓg! is an immersive adventure that offers a gentle introduction to the world of Irish folklore, traditional music, dance and Gaelic language for 0-3s. And adapted from Julia Jarman and Adrian Reynolds’ popular children’s picture book, Big Red Bath is a quirky, vibrant and humorous tale for 2-5 year olds features music and a frothy feast of animals.
Norwich Science Festival will be visiting the Playhouse this half term with some fantastic family shows. BBC and YouTube star Maddie Moate will share a selection of stories from her debut book ‘stuff’; The Amazing Bubble Man will conjure spellbinding bubble tricks to keep everyone mesmerized; and Mark’s Spectacular Science Show explores the strange and magical properties of matter with exploding elephant’s toothpaste, vortex-generating dustbins and even howling jelly babies!
