Until a few weeks ago I had no idea what Zeek was. Turns out for me it is just the perfect solution to a problem I thought would just be forever irritating. That problem was Gift Cards.
As a blogger I sometimes get paid in gift vouchers. This is usually lovely as I then treat myself to something I wouldn’t normally. Sometimes though it comes at a time where cash would be more useful or there is genuinely nothing else I need from a specific store.
Just generally in life I sometimes get gift vouchers as gifts for places I never shop or plain don’t like.
What Zeek Does
Zeek allows you to sell your unwanted gift cards. Really easily. OK you don’t get the exact same value but it’s not too far off and I always think I’d rather have £18 to spend on something I want than £20 worth of something I didn’t. Selling gift cards is really quick and most are bought within 24 hours.
What I also like is that you can buy other people’s gift cards at a discount too. So you never have to buy a gift card at full price again. Discounts I’ve seen range from 1% to 15% depending on the retailer and the value of the gift card you are purchasing. Definitely look through the whole list as sometimes you get a better deal buying two £20 cards than one £40 card.
What I Thought
We were set up with some credit so we could have a play around on the site. I found it incredibly easy to navigate. In fact I won’t go into the ins and outs, because it’s so simple you don’t need me to!
The choice of gift cards you can pick from is unbelievable. In fact I’ve now used it several times to get gift vouchers for people as presents and to sell a couple of unwanted ones.
The only downsides for me are that you can only pay by card at the moment. I would like to see PayPal as an option. Especially as you have the option to be paid by PayPal when you sell vouchers. But that is a very minor thing.
Oh and my first transaction with them flagged as suspicious with my bank. So I just had to phone them and get that all sorted. But that does happen every now and then when I shop somewhere new. I just felt I should mention it in the spirit of honesty.
When you have purchased a voucher if it is a gift card or paper voucher it will be posted to you. I have so far only bought online vouchers. I’ve then emailed people the codes with those fancy birthday cards you can email. What I like is that there is a simple little tick box to click once you’ve used the voucher (or given it to someone) so that you don’t get muddled.
Sign Up Bonus
I really like using it and if Zeek sounds like something you’d find useful too if you sign up using my link (it then gives you a promo code to use which is 29436WFU) you’ll get a £5 treat and so will I.
Disclosure – I was given some credit in order to try the site and give my honest opinions. The article contains a promotional link as mentioned above so that we both benefit for my referral.
