This wonderful jewellery making kit from Jeweltailor is everything you’ll need and more to keep the kids occupied for hours upon end.
Delivered in a lovely gift box, inside you’ll find over 1,000 beads all neatly contained and organised within a gorgeous butterfly ‘no spill’ bead box, alongside a 5m length of bright multi coloured cord, a real of elastic and a guide containing some great child friendly jewellery making ideas.

The box is advised for ages 3+ due to the small parts but as I have been doing this kind of thing with my 2 ½ year old son since pretty much the moment he could concentrate for more than 3 seconds, so we sat down to give the kit a work out.

It is fair to say that the younger the child the sharper your eyes have to be just to ensure no beads become snacks and that some of the finer beads certainly aren’t suitable until they get a bit bigger, but using the silly cord and larger beads we had a great time creating fun patterns and brilliant necklaces, or as he likes them to be, medals. I have always loved how the act of crafting not only helps his fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination but gives us some really fun mummy and son time.

My son loved the butterfly bead box and was so excited about it he demanded it was carried in his tricycle basket for quite some time, he’s really into exploring nature and learning about all the different bugs and insects so this was perfect, to be fair it would have only been better had it been dinosaur shaped.

The brightly coloured beads were also a big hit, there are animal beads and sparkly beads, wooden beads, cartoon beads, plastic beads, so many shapes and sizes, beautiful buttons and even letter beads so you can personalise whatever you make.

After the little one was done for the day I sat down to create a few bits myself, so it’s a nice way to sneak in some cheeky grown up craft time as well.

We have spent hours together with this kit making all sorts of bits and have barely even scratched the surface of what it contains, so value for money wise, it’s only £14.99, I was very impressed. There is more than enough to keep several children occupied, although they may not be so happy about deciding who the butterfly box belongs to!
