When I found out my sister was pregnant I was keen to help her out with as many useful things as possible. I was fully aware she would be inundated with cute clothes and toys for the new baby, which are super lovely, but I wanted to get her things that would make her life easier! So when Kegel8 got in touch to tell me about their Mother Nurture Electronic Pelvic Toner and Labour TENS Machine I knew it was just what I was after.

As any mum out their will tell you giving birth plays havoc with the old pelvic floor muscles. I can tell you for a fact that watching a Michael McIntyre Christmas Special not long after giving birth is a bad idea, I laughed so hard there was deffo a bit of wee that escaped.
And we all try to do the exercises, we do, but when you haven’t slept and have a newborn it all kind of slips your mind. Same to be said whilst you’re pregnant, the not sleeping and growing an actual human takes up a lot of energy and headspace.

The Kegel8 Mother Nurture Electronic Pelvic Toner and Labour TENS Machine works to support your pelvic muscles in a way that super easy and incredibly effective. A simple probe directly stimulates the muscles helping them become strong, and strong enough you’ll feel the benefits for up to a year if used correctly and following the guidelines, before pregnancy. Or, helping them recover after childbirth, something I know I would have found useful as I had a significant tear thanks to L.
All seem like a weird gift to give my sister? Maybe? But frankly I think women should feel far less uncomfortable talking about these things than they do. It happens, to a lot of us, and the effects can be long lasting. That’s not nice.

This little device doesn’t stop there though, it also has the pads required for it to work as a TENS Machine. A feature my sister was very interested in, any kind of pain relief during labour was of interest to her. Sadly she didn’t get to try this out as my little niece made an early appearance and she hadn’t had chance to look at everything before she ended up in labour, sadly some of the required wires were missing from the review product we were sent so she couldn’t use it.
I love that this is a real all-round product with multiple uses. Many of the parts are replaceable which is really handy, especially in our case as we’ll be after some cables so she has everything she needs if she’s mad enough to have more kids!

It’s neat, compact and easy to use. Comes in a sturdy storage box with plenty of room, perfect for the delivery bag and not one you have to faff with struggling to fit everything back in like a puzzle, which is much appreciated. This is a great bit of kit and deserves looking after.
At £94.99 it’s not cheap, but for what it does it simply can’t be and the build quality and all round usefulness of it makes that worthwhile. Hiring a TENS Machine alone can cost around £20, so if you’re planning on more than one kid that soon adds up and you don’t get the very real benefit of having one you own and are comfortable with or the help with your pelvic floor muscles, so I think it offers very good value for money when you look at it that way.

Verdict, it’s worth the money and a very impressive bit of kit, but do find time to check you have everything before you go to hospital! As I’m sure the lovely customer service team would have sorted everything out had they known!
Disclosure – I was gifted my unit for consideration for a gift guide feature, I was so impressed I felt it deserved more than one paragraph. All thoughts, opinions and images are my own (or my sister’s).
