Makerly Craft Box – August

I do enjoy the chance to craft and I also love the surprise offered by a subscription box. Not knowing what you’ll get, the fun of unwrapping it, then a little project to complete. So exciting. That is exactly what you get with Makerly.Makerly July 2018 Punch Needle

When August’s box arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago I couldn’t wait to open it up and find out what was inside, my postman had handed it to me on my way to work, through the car window, so I hate to think what the people parked next to me a t work thought when I squealed with delight after seeing what was inside. Makerly August

August’s Makerly Craft Box contains a Felt Flowers kit, not something I had specifically thought of doing before, though such a simple idea. A beautiful craft to end the summer with, bright flowers that will stay looking good even though the weather is changing!Makerly August

Inside the box was:

  • Felt in lots of colours
  • Mini wired hot glue gun
  • Plenty of glue sticks
  • Templates
  • Ribbon
  • Butterfly Buttons
  • Instructions

So much it barely fit in the box. Makerly August

As you all know, August was a very busy month for me, which is why it has taken me so long to actually finish off this craft and write about it. But when I actually found the time, the flowers were surprisingly simple to make and look great.

I actually started making my flowers whilst we were away camping in Trevornick, the boys had gone to the beach so I made the most of the EuroTent’s electric and huge table to enjoy a bit of me time crafting. The best thing about crafting whilst camping is all the amazing natural light!Makerly August

I simply followed the instructions for each type of flower and watched my creations grow. I found the rose the most fiddly, the bud the most satisfying and the marigold the easiest and most ‘wow’ of the flowers.

I can’t believe Makerly actually included a hot glue gun in the box, it’s one of the things that makes me love them so much. Even a complete novice could have done this and other than scissors didn’t need anything else to complete this beautiful craft. Plus you are adding to your crafting supplies in a useful way. Also in a very pretty way as you get buttons too, whoop. I do love a button. Makerly August

I loved my August Subscription Box from Makerly, I’ve got the patterns for some lovely easy to make flowers that would make great gifts, added some butterfly buttons to my stash and now have a new mini glue gun so I don’t have to harass my mother for the return of my old one. Yes, I have multiple glue guns, and yes, I need them all.

If you fancy subscribing to Makerly, and quite honestly if you love to craft why wouldn’t you, just pop over to their website where they have several gift and personal subscription offers starting at £13.33 a month. A bargain considering everything you get!
