Masha and the Bear

Masha and the Bear – How They Met

I have somehow managed to miss Masha and the Bear, it’s not been a show on my son’s radar, so when we were asked to review the new DVD collection from Abbey Home Media I didn’t know what to expect.

Turns out Masha and the Bear is really adorable, there’s friendship, fun, as serious dose of cuteness and a lot adventure. This is their first DVD collection and I reckon there will be a lot more to come.

Masha is a  feisty three year old girl and bear has retired from the circus, he’s looking for a more relaxed life. They form a classic unlikely friendship and together with a rather odd bunch of woodland friends we follow their adventures.

I really enjoyed the animations and fell in love with Masha, she gets up to the kinds of things I could imagine L would get up to if given half the chance, if he lived in a train station in the woods and if his best giraffe Gerry was indeed alive, could converse with him and had retired from a long and hard life in the circus.

L has has absolutely loved the good dose of silliness, and all the animals. He has always related to programmes based around animals better than he has those based round children, so this was a nice mix up for him.

There are 9 episodes on the DVD, giving you a run time of around an hour, so it’s a good one to pop on whilst you run off to have a shower, drink a hot cup of tea and try to get on top of the washing.

If you’re already a fan of Masha and the Bear these are the episodes you’ll find on the DVD:

How They Met, Don’t Wake, Jam Day, Call Me Please, Little Cousin, Get Well Soon, Recipe For Disaster, Laundry Day and The Grand Piano Lesson.

If you’re a Masha newbie like me, then I recommend you checking it out, yeah you’ll hate me after you’ve watched it for the thirty thousandth time, but for the first few times around I think you’ll really enjoy it.

Important things to know, it’s certificate U and available from all good DVD stockists.

Disclosure – we were gifted our copy of the DVD, all opinions are my own
