Time for my monthly Degustabox feature, if you haven’t seen previous month’s posts, Degustabox is a monthly subscription box, filled with amazing new foods for you to try out. Including new lines from big brands and foods from smaller brands that you maybe weren’t aware of. For £12.99 per box you will have contents worth well in excess of that, get the chance to try something new and maybe even find a new favourite treat. I enjoy getting to try things I wouldn’t normally buy for my family.
The April box was so good, with a few choccy bits and loads of drinks, lots of new things for me to try. Here’s what I got;
Canderel – £3.00 – Not a huge amount I can say about the Canderel really, it works as a great sugar substitute, no calories and easy to swap into recipes and everyday life.
Thor Dry Apple Spritz – 2 x £1.80 – I got the Apple and the Apple & Mint versions to dry and both were spot on, not too sweet, very refreshing and certainly dry. I loved that the Apple & Mint wasn’t your standard, just eaten a polo, mint flavour but like actual fresh mint leaves from the garden.
Levi Roots Coat ‘n Cook Sauce – £1.00 – We had the Smokey BBQ flavour which is about as bad as it gets for me but a dream for the husb and he loved it! Super easy to prepare, literally just pour it on and cook, and apparently it packs a big punch. For £1.00 we’ll definitely be buying this.
Popchips – £1.99 – In Sea Salt, Garlic & Rosemary these were certainly delicious, full of flavour, great crunch and a great texture. I love that they are lower in fat than standard crisps and really enjoyed them but I can’t see me spending so much on a bag of crisps unless I was trying to impress guests and it’s very rare I try to impress my guests.
Rejuvenation Water – £1.99 – Another Apple & Mint flavour drink, which considering it isn’t a flavour combination I’d come across before it was funny getting two different products using it in my Degustabox. I loved this. You are supposed to drink one a day to fuel your immune system and help build a barrier against stress which I need some help with. Does it work? Who knows but it is darn tasty and really refreshing.
Veetee Wholegrain / Basmati Microwaveable Rices – £1.49 / £1.29 – we are already big fans of Veetee Rice in our house, you get a really generous portion, it’s really easy to cook and comes up a treat, the flavours are delicate and just as you would expect from a good rice. These are a kitchen cupboard staple.
Parle-G / Parle Rusk – £0.25 / £0.89 – We had a couple of Parle products in last month;s box so I was surprised to see them back so soon, the Parle-G Biscuits are amazing, like a really good Malted Milk, they went down a treat with everyone but the Rusks not so much, a crisp-bread with cardamom, neither savoury nor sweet, odd really. We tried them but I have to admit they got fed to the birds the next day. Not a fan.
Milkybar / Smarties Chocolates – £1.00 / £1.29 – These are amazing! They are chocolate and they are classics. I loved that the Milkybar Milk & Crunchy were individually wrapped mini chocolates, perfect for the little one with their biscuity chocolately centres and the Smarties Sharing Block was quite simply not shared, pa ha ha!
Bebeto – £1.99 – A bag for each day of the week, labelled up and ready to go with a different fruity lace snack in each one. L loves them and I’ve managed a little nibble as well and am super impressed.
Green Lady – £1.99 – Considering I do not like tea I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Green Tea mix drink, it was refreshing and really rather tasty, based on an ancient recipe Green Lady has been given a modern twist and is a great summer drink to be enjoyed outside in the sun.
Total Value = £21.77 saving £8.78
The biggest surprise for me was the Rejuvenation Water, I loved it and love what it is trying to do. I feel stress and anxiety quite keenly and practise mindfulness and if adding a delicious drink to my daily routine can also help then I’m all for it, I just wish it wasn’t quite so much money.
My most disappointing item was the Parle Rusks, simply because I had been so impressed with the other items from their range I was expecting to really enjoy these but they missed the mark for me.
The stand out item for me was the Chocolate, both the Smarties and Milkybar offerings just bought back childhood memories and a lovely chocolate treat which when you are dieting like I am is a super nice treat.
The overall family favourite goes to Parle-G. We all enjoyed these biscuits, they were a sweet treat I didn’t feel guilty about feeding the toddler and they hit the spot for us grown ups too.
If you’re interested in trying Degustabox for yourself I’ve got a great reader offer for you, quote code ‘BLDEG15’ at the checkout and you’ll get a massive £6.00 off your first box! That makes it nearly half price.
