My Name Label Review

When the guys at My Name Label got in touch to see if I would like to try out some of their labels for clothing, shoes and belongings their timing couldn’t have been better.

I had actually been looking online to buy some labels for L’s things, but I didn’t really know what to go for, or if what I chose would be any good. I needed shoe labels, this is what had sparked the search, but I also wanted to be able to label things like his water bottle, toys, coats and clothes. Everything really.

I’ve never been brilliant at the whole labelling thing. He is lucky to be at a small nursery and the staff are great at keeping tabs on what belongs to which child. Recently I’d noticed some duplicate items, kids with the same bottle or hoodie as him. It was the matching pair of shoes that really made e think though as I had just run out of shoe labels.

My Name Label starter pack

With My Name Label there are plenty of options but I like their starter pack. It’s £22.00 and you get 20 big stickers, 20 small stickers, 20 mini stickers, 3 pairs shoe labels (plus protective overlays), 1 bag tag, 25 standard iron-on clothing labels and 20 mini iron-on clothing labels.

I received a smaller sample pack, but it contained at least one of each of the items in the starter pack to try out.

I found the order process was really easy, you just pop in the text you need. Choose a background colour, text colour and font to use and you also get to pick a little picture that goes on all the labels apart from the mini one. You don’t get this choice with the Iron On labels. These are white with navy blue lettering. The font and picture are your choice.

An idea of what L chose

L actually sat on my lap and choose his background colour, blue, and his picture, a train. He loved being involved in the process and is really excited now his labels have arrived. He’s been telling me what needs labels, which is everything in case you wondered. Helping me position them and showing everyone at nursery his newly labelled items.

The shoe labels in particular are brilliant. Really sticky and hard wearing. They will last longer than shoes do I am sure.

We’ve used a variety of the sticky labels on his bottles and as long as you manage to stick it down really well, they will even go through the dishwasher. I’ve found it’s important to get the right size label for the job, as if it is a bit too big and goes over edges or bumps, not only will it not survive the dishwasher it will not survive a toddlers little picky fingers!

I’ve also used the stickers on his wellies, just a little mini sticker on the inside. Obviously I could have used the shoe label for this but I found it easier to just pop a little mini label at the top instead of trying to get into the bottom of the boot. I’ve also used them on the bottom of his little slippers. The rough and tumble these labels will withstand is impressive.

The iron on labels are obviously so well suited to clothes. I have also been using them on his special toys that travel with him. Just popping them onto the care tags that are stitched in. Oh and little thing I have found handy is to use my hair straighteners instead of the iron. So much quicker and a lot easier when you are trying to do fiddly little labels in weird places.

Bag Label

They are machine washable and tumble dryer safe. They are nice and soft when they are on the clothes too. Not stiff or scratchy which was a concern. They are just nice and flexible and you can’t really feel it’s there.

The biggest surprise for me was the bag tag. It’s just not something I’d given any thought too. But as he gets bigger and we have to think about school, well then that could be an issue. The bag tags are a nice solid card, printed in your design, with an elastic loop to attach it. I just think it looks so smart.

Now I’m sorry I haven’t shared any pictures of L’s labels. For his privacy I don’t share his name so I can’t. They do look fab though, you’ll just have to trust me. I will certainly be ordering from My Name Label again.
