Turtle Bay Norwich

My Night at Turtle Bay Norwich

So as you all know Turtle Bay is opening it’s first East Anglian restaurant in my lovely city of Norwich on the 30th. Well not my city, I don’t own it, but you know what I mean.

On Thursday I was lucky enough to get to go to it’s VIP launch party with my blogging bestie Kate from Love2Eat2Travel and a whole host of other journalists and bloggers from the region.

We were treated to the Turtle Bay Rum, Reggae and Jerk experience and got to have a good old nose round the restaurant without disturbing other people who might have just wanted a nice meal.

As soon as I arrived I was treated to a Rum cocktail and told off for driving ‘you never drive to the bay!’, I could soon see why, the cocktail list is immense!! I made my way through a fair few of the virgin cocktails though, my particular favourite being the peanut butter and banana smoothie. Just amazing!

The restaurant itself looks really cool and is almost unrecognisable from the Fabric Warehouse it used to be. Lots of twinkly lights, amazing wall art and even a campervan. Turtle Bay is a lot of fun.

We also got to try some food. Although the menu caters well for vegetarians, the samples for the evening did not, so I didn’t eat much. I was promised a vegetarian curry, but that never arrived.

What I can tell you s that the starters I tried were delicious, really spicy and full of flavour. The rice that goes with the curries is awesome. I nearly didn’t bother with it as I didn’t fancy a plate of rice but I’m glad Kate made me try it, full of flavour, with beans and onions and spice it was yummy.

The desserts were good too. Of course there was rum cake, which really was full of rum. For me the stand out dessert was the lemon cake, truly perfect.

Turtle Bay is a breath of fresh air for Norwich. There’s nothing quite like it in Norwich, from the food it offers to the amazing atmosphere. It’s going to fit very well into our fine city and I’m looking forward to going back when it opens on the 30th fora proper meal.

If you’re excited too remember to enter my competition which ends midnight on the 29th for your chance to win a meal for 4 people.
