Our Holiday in the Sun

We go on holiday a lot with the kid, maybe two or three family breaks a year. We’ll camp, boat, caravan, we really don’t care but one thing they have all had in common is they have been self catering in the UK. They have also been work, reviews for this blog. We haven’t had a family holiday in the sun at all since L was born and technically I haven’t had a holiday at all. So here comes our trip to Turkey.

Do not get me wrong, I am not complaining, not one bit. I have loved each and every break we have been on. Long or short, under canvas or on water, near or far. I am so lucky to get to go to these amazing places, with my family and call it work. But work it is.

Not just on the blog side of things, but the self catering aspect often means I am cooking, cleaning and planning our days just like I would be at home. With the added benefit of not having Paw Patrol on hand to give me five minutes peace.

So the time had come to have a summer holiday. After much research and staring at prices and scouring different websites we opted for a Jet2Holiday in Turkey. I found booking with Jet2 really easy, their prices were so competitive and everything was included, flights, transfers and luggage. It was also really clear what was and wasn’t included in the All Inclusive package we went for, local gin being the first thing I checked for, obviously.

We went to Aurum Beach and Spa resort in Didum, which is just outside Bodrum in Turkey. The transfer time was just over an hour which was important to an and the resort looked amazing. We were not disappointed.

The resort was perfect and so pretty. Our room was huge. The staff were so friendly. We had everything we needed, beach, pools, mini waterpark, food, drink and ice cream on tap. Just perfect.

I guess I can’t tell you much more than that as on this holiday l did the one thing I swore I would never do. I went to a country, one I’d never visited before, and didn’t experience it at all. We didn’t do any trips, didn’t leave the hotel complex. We just relaxed. We swam, we played on the beach, we ate. That’s it. For a week. It was blissful.

I’m actually really sad to be home. It’s like I’ve seen what could be. We were all at our best, happy and relaxed. We all had so much fun. L loved everything, from the flight to the swimming. Mainly l just think he liked being with us. Turkey is a fabulous destination.

We’ll definitely be having another all inclusive holiday, it was so easy and removed so many worries. I’d actually go back to the exact same place again, it was so nice. I can’t wait to book our next holiday. We’ve been converted.
