L and I love to get in the kitchen and bake together. Neither of us are very good but we enjoy it. With Easter on the horizon we’ve both got that Spring feeling so when we saw the Craft & Crumb Easter Biscuit Making Kit we had to give it a go.

Looking Forward to Spring

It’s fair to say I’ve felt a bit gloomy recently. Far from my usual positive self. Whilst it’s definitely ok to feel whichever way you want and I’m certainly not a fan of hiding emotions, they’ll only build up and up until they force their way out anyway, I do feel the need for a bit of my usual positive self to shine through. So I’ve taken a few minutes to jot down some of the things I’m looking forward to now Spring is on it’s way.

Mindful Minis – Mindful Month

I am a big fan of mindfulness, I meditate and enjoy yoga when I can. After spending the vast majority of my adult life, if not all of my adult life struggling with my mental health I can safely say finding mindfulness was a turning point for me.

Journalling, meditating and just being more aware helped change me as a person. I became more aware of what was good in my life, what made me happy and what I needed to be more level. It helped me notice sooner when I was falling under and it helped me pull my way back up.

Back to School – Again

I’m feeling really weird about all the back to school messaging right now. I’m pleased he’s going back, he needs it, I’ve tried my best but ultimately I’m not a teacher and in a very poor substitute for playtime with his friends. I’m also sad he’s going back, I really will miss him. I’m worried too, worried it’s too much, too soon, concerned that it might lead to further lockdowns and the impact that would have.

Now I need to stress that these are just the rather muddled thoughts of a stressed out, worried, tired and confused mum. This is not a well balanced, researched and thought out view on the current state of affairs. I know very little about politics. I haven’t researched anything. I’m just trying to get by and writing helps.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021

Mother’s Day is coming. Last year saw us mums celebrate during the 1st weekend of lockdown number one. It seemed ok, and we had a little laugh about the restaurant gift vouchers we received and couldn’t use and had no idea that the promised spa day would be so very away.

This year it looks like it will be more of the same, potentially a socially distanced walk could be on the cards, but who really knows! So I feel like it’s wise to plan gifts assuming we will not actually be able to see one another and I certainly won’t be able to repeat the heavenly year I went away with a friend for Mother’s Day and we left our children at home

So here are a few of my picks for celebrating another locked down Mother’s Day.

How do I know my cat really loves me?

National Love your Pet Day has come round again – it’s today for those of you who didn’t know! – and there’s one question on the tip of everyone’s tongue… what on earth can I get my cat and how do I know if they even care?

They can be the surliest of lovers, cats. They don’t seem to like being picked up, nor do they come when you call. They don’t seem to show affection, not like dogs do anyway and yet the bond between cats and humans has been going for centuries.
