L loves fairies, he has been swept away by the magic of them ever since we visited Bluestone earlier the year. We have a Fairy Door and he has a resident fairy, Smiffle. He is always asking to make little things for Smiffle and wanted so I got straight in touch with the team at Crafter’s Companion and they sent me some wonderful products so we could be creative.
Crafter’s Companion has recently joined up with Imagination Crafts and we have some of their lovely fairy stencils that have been the base of our project.
I wanted to start with something simple for L, so we used one of the larger stencils on a canvas so he could get used to the paint and being gentle and painting different areas with different colours. It all went really well and he was so pleased with the finished project.
Paint wise we used the amazing Sparkle Mediums and Starlights Textile paints. Again these are from Imagination Crafts.
The Sparkle Medium is just that, a super sparkly medium that is just perfect for stencilling with. We used the gold for the stars and green for the fairy wings and it gave the perfect effect. It’s easy to use and comes in a huge range of colours. I’m not entirely sure I’ll be content until I own a pot of every colour as I could use it for so much, just amazing, trust me.
We really loved the Starlights Textile paints too. Whilst we didn’t need textile paint for a canvas it worked perfectly and when I explained to L that I could use it on a T-Shirt and it would stay after a good iron, he put in an order, so I guess decorating shirts is our next project! They have such a lovely solid, yet shimmery colour, they are hard not to love.
Also in the Starlights range are candle paints, glass paints and traditional paints. All in a multitude of colours. Love them!
Creating our canvas with these products was a breeze and I was so impressed with how careful L was, he then (with a little help) added Smiffle’s name to the canvas with some self adhesive scrabble style letter tiles I had hanging around in the craft stash.
His picture has been displayed proudly in our conservatory and Smiffle was so happy he left L a bag of Marshmallows, nice and light for fairies to carry you see.
