Peter Rabbit - Great Breakout

Peter Rabbit – The Tale of the Great Breakout

So if you read my blog a bit then you’ll probably know I’m a huge Beatrix Potter fan and that L love the new Peter Rabbit tales from TV, so he was super excited to get to review the latest DVD offering.

Now my heart is always going to lie with the classic tales, there’s no denying that, but there is something about the new Peter Rabbit that has L transfixed. I think it’s the action more than anything, he adores it when they are being chased in their cart and he loves the owl, even if he’s one of the naughty ones.

This is the fourth Peter Rabbit and friends DVD collection, it was released by Abbey Home Media, is a certificate U and can be bought from most good DVD stockists. This DVD has 6 fun episodes on it and comes with a really lovely height chart, so there’s something nice for the kids to keep when they open up the box.

I have to admit, that despite my allegiance to the classic tales, these do sometimes make me chuckle, when Mr. McGregor’s garden was over run by all of the squirrels and Peter, Benjamin and Lily have to break them out it did amuse me, I think Squirrel Nutkin with his funny little outfit and no tale is a great twist on the Nutkin I remember.

There is also an episode about Benjamin and some Strawberries, The Tale of Benjamin’s Strawberry Raid, just reminds me of L stripping our Strawberry patch and being utterly devastated that they didn’t grown back over night, same goes for the raspberry canes, I think I saw about a dozen of the bumper crop of raspberries we got last year, not because of bugs, but because of my child! This episode just makes me think of that and it’s sweet.

If you’ve got a Peter Rabbit fan at home this would make the perfect gift.

Disclosure – we were gifted our copy in return for our honest review.
