This Plus That Equals…. Why I Love My Garden

This plus that equals…. why I love my garden

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about why I love my garden, I’m no great gardener but I wouldn’t be without my garden.

Garden Slide
Whatever the weather we use our garden

L loves being outside – Even in his worst mood, pop this kid outside and he’s happy. Running round with his wheelbarrow, digging holes, finding bugs, scooting. He doesn’t care what he’s doing or what the weather is doing, he’ll always choose to be in the garden and when he’s happy everyone around him is too.

Roses –  I have always loved roses so we have loads, all scented and this time of year they look and smell amazing. I’ve got a gorgeous purple rose, a huge white rose, a stunning red rose at the back of my herb garden and a delicate little white climbing rose that covers half my trellis and make’s it hard to get to the washing line but I can’t bring myself to cut it back just yet. I’d have more if I had my way. They just make me happy.

Wildlife –  We are so lucky where we live that whenever I look outside there is something to see, the really vocal little robin who lives in the apple tree, Bob our local blackbird with a white patch on his side, the occasional hedgehog, woodpeckers, loads of finches and tits of all varieties and even a little bat in the evenings. I just really enjoy getting to watch everything come and go.

It’s my sanctuary –  If ever I get a few minutes to myself I love to be in the garden, it’s the place I feel most calm and most peaceful. The weather was so good last week I worked outside, I could barely see my screen for the glare but it was worth it. A few minutes curled up on my swing chair with a book or a drink feels like hours, it’s so restorative. A little bit of weeding or better still planting new plants makes me happy. I really do love my garden.

Space –  when the weather is good our garden becomes a much needed extra room, we can eat, cook, entertain, play, work even nap outside. Until we can either extend our home or move (which I really don’t want to do) the extra outdoor space is well used and much needed.

Do you have a garden you love?

  1. I agree with you so much on every point. I love our garden and loved our old garden too. I have so much work to do now we’ve moved as I had 4 lovely roses in our old garden and they didn’t survive the uprooting and move. I don’t know what I’d do without a garden!

Thanks for linking up hope you can this week too #TheBabyForomula

  2. It’s amazing what a bit of fresh air will do for kids isn’t it? Come to think of it, it does me the world of good too! Looks like you have a lovely garden. I hope to have a nice space for my baby to play in soon but the other half needs to pull his finger out and get on building my patio! Thanks for joining us on #fortheloveofBLOG x

  3. Your garden sounds and looks beautiful – mine is awful so I am jealous. We have a stunning riverside park behind our house which helps but just to get outside in the summer and have a picnic on our lawn would be lovely. The perils of renting! Enjoy the space, Bob sounds cute too 😊 #thebabyformula

    1. Aww thank you, you can’t look too close at the garden still plenty of work to do but I love it. My friend lives by a lovely park and I get jealous of that but then I can’t use it in my PJs! Thanks for reading
