So in about a year I am going to be a bridesmaid for my little sister. This is just the kind of goal I need to diet, start losing some weight and getting healthier, which all ties in nicely with my quest to be a calmer, happier and healthier person.
I have decided to vlog about my journey as that will give me a visual reminder of where I’ve been and where I am and as it’s something that makes me rather uncomfortable it will also help to keep me in check. Plus it’s always good to push yourself.
During my journey I will be getting to try all kinds of new products and sharing my experiences of them with you.
Sorry there has been such a gap since my last update, life has just got in the way a bit, as it does. What that means is I’ve got lots of cool stuff to share with you this week that I have been trying out.
Since my last update I haven’t lost any weight, I haven’t gained any either which I should be pleased about but honestly I’m a little despondent about the whole thing. For me I need to see weight coming off to be happy and motivated, it is hard to stay on track with a diet otherwise. But I shall try, there’s always tomorrow.
I’ve been a bit hit and miss remembering to take my supplements from Just Vitamins but since last Monday I have also been taking Raspberry Ketones Plus from Health Plus, not just raspberry keytones but also a mix of acai berry, green tea, guarana and black pepper extract to help reduce the feelings of hunger and maintain a healthy metabolism.
I have found adding this in with the combination of supplements I was already taking, CLA’s, Apple Cider Vinegar and Glucomanan has kick started my metabolism even more. I haven’t had any adverse effects and as I only have to take these once a day haven’t had any issues remembering, I’m always fine taking my morning supplements, it’s just the lunch and afternoon ones I struggle with. They are really pleasant to take, they actually smell rather nice and you can taste them a little as you swallow them but they are quite fruity which is fine.
The Raspberry Ketones Plus cost £12.95 for a bottle of 60.
Exercise wise I still need to fit in more, my main forms of exercise are cycling which I love, walking and wrestling clothes onto my toddler. I don’t get to cycle as much as I would like as L has taken against going on the back of the pushbike with me and it is also time consuming. As for walking because I’m with L nearly all the time, I’m pretty certain I’m not actually going fast enough for it to count! So I have been using Chair Gym from High Street TV.
The Chair Gym is really simple to use, it basically just utilises different strength bungee cords so that you can do all kinds of leg and arm exercises, like you would use weight machines ta the gym. Except with Chair Gym you can use it in front of the TV at home whenever you want and once you’ve paid for it, that’s it. It costs £69.99 which is less than most monthly gym memberships, but at the moment it is only £29.99, seriously at that price what have you got to lose?
I like it because it folds flat and can be tucked away easily, I also like that it has three strengths, the grey cord is the a medium tension, the black cord is a strong tension and both together is even harder still. This has meant that both myself, a real weakling and my husband, who likes a proper work out can use it. It also came with a DVD of workouts you can follow and an instruction booklet with over 50 exercises in it, which is really handy.
I have to say my husband was really sceptical about how well it could actually work, especially for him, but other than a few of the exercises it not providing quite enough tension for him he has been really pleased and has been surprised about the burn he felt afterwards. I was pretty certain it would offer enough of a workout for me and I was right, I like that I cam just use it for 10 minutes if that’s all the time I have at that it is set up and ready to go in seconds.
The only downside we have noted is that now we have been using it for several weeks the cords have lost a little bit of their strength, so sometimes they detach from the chair as it is purely the tension of the cords that keeps them in place, so sometimes if you are doing an exercise that just stretches upwards that is enough to detach them but I have seen that you can buy higher tension cords and a swivel seat from High Street TV which we might do so husb can get even more use from it and I have something to aim for, eek.
Also since my last update my Bobble bottle has been getting a good workout! I use this bottle a lot because it holds 1 litre of water, is easy to carry around and filters the tap water really nicely. We took it on holiday with us and it was an absolute life saver, all three of us were using it as the tap water was particularly chlorine-y where we were staying and as we could just fill this up and then go it was super convenient. I really love that each filter lasts for around 300 uses, which is superb and that the filter is attached to the sports cap, so when you change it you get a new sports cap too. This is nice because they do get a bit manky after a while. Not that it should make a difference I also really like the bright colours, so you can pick a new colour each time, it’s just fun!
Last but not least I have been treated to some yummy desserts from Weight Watchers, to help me satisfy my sweet tooth without blowing the diet. Each serving is under 200 calories and of course low in fat. I tried two of their ice cream style desserts. Toffee and Honeycomb Sundaes, super yummy but you could taste the sweetener in the toffee sauce, not unpleasant but maybe could be improved a little. I also tried the Ice Cream pots, a strawberry swirl and raspberry swirl. These were delicious and a really nice portion size, the fact they are all portion controlled is so helpful, if I was just left to scoop from a tub I’d have way too much so these worked great for me, I’ll certainly be keeping some on hand in the freezer now.
So that he wasn’t left out L also got sent some fun Minion and Peppa Pig Ice Cream Lollies from Icefresh Foods, he was most impressed with these, what with them being his favourite characters in ice cream form and all. They were really fun and are low in calories with no added colours or preservatives so they weren’t even too bad for me if I was reduced to stealing the child’s sweet treats, not that that happened obviously ahem. We do now have to buy these for him regularly, because I can’t listen to the screams of Minion Ice Cream/Peppa Ice Cream for two hours every evening if I don’t have any.
So what’s next for me? Well I’m going to speaking to Laura Clark who was the dietitian for ITV’s “The Biggest Loser” series and BBC 1’s “Lose Weight for Love”, so I’ll be making the most of her dietitian knowledge and I am also going to be trying Yokebe a high protein shake, just to give me that kick start I need to get back on track with my diet. On top of this I have been signed up to Gym Cube an online workout and training platform for even more exercise help. I really want to see some results in the next few weeks!
