So in about a year I am going to be a bridesmaid for my little sister. This is just the kind of goal I need to start losing some weight and getting healthier, which all ties in nicely with my quest to be a calmer, happier and healthier person.
I have decided to vlog about my journey as that will give me a visual reminder of where I’ve been and where I am and as it’s something that makes me rather uncomfortable it will also help to keep me in check. Plus it’s always good to push yourself.
During my journey I will be getting to try all kinds of new products and sharing my experiences of them with you.
For the last 5 days I have taken part in the Lemon Detox Challenge and I have loved it! I feel great, I’ve lost weight and I’m sleeping better.
It uses a special Tree Syrup that you mix with water, fresh lemon juice and each cayenne pepper or ginger You have 7 glasses a day to get all the calories you need but still allowing you to cleanse fully.
You can either do the 5 day challenge like me, 7 days or if you’re a bit of a pro and have spoken with your doctor then 10 days is the absolute maximum.
If you don’t fancy a full detox you can follow a 5:2 plan and have a healthy meal a day but I found it easier to cut out food entirely. I actually food it really easy and rather enjoyable. I still had plenty of energy, I went cycling and walking and it fitted into my lifestyle perfectly. I will 100% be doing this again.
For me the negatives have been that I missed the physical act of eating, I wasn’t hungry, I just missed eating. After day 3 I had the worst taste in my mouth, almost constantly, just a side affect of carb withdrawal and the toxins working their way out of your system, but still, ick. Also my finger nails have been yellow from all the cutting and squeezing of lemons!!
The positives have been I’ve lost weight, it was surprisingly easy, I ended up really liking the taste (it’s a grower), my skin is better, I’m sleeping better and I just feel full of energy.
So what about my weight this week? Well I’ve lost 5lb! 5lb in 5 days. Freakin awesome. I weighed myself each morning and my wieght loss went like this, day 1 2lb off, day 2 2lb off, day 3 2lb off, day 4 no loss, no gain, day 5 1lb on. I’m pretty chuffed with that.
Some tips for you if you’re going to do it. If your food processor has a juicing function, use it! I preferred ginger to pepper, so try it first! I also loved it with sparkling water and hated it hot, so definitely worth experimenting on day 1. Once you know how you like it make a whole day’s worth in advance every evening. As it takes just over two litres of water to make up I kept an empty 2 litre bottle then poured half of my sparkly 2 litre bottle into it giving me space over the two to make up all I needed for the following day.
My fitness tracker from Terraillon has once again been a great motivator, I’m going out of my way to hit my steps count and time active goals, which I’m planning on making tougher next week if I reach them every day this week. I still get a bit annoyed at the app being so buggy but generally I’m really happy with my new tech.
Today I started The Jane Plan which I shall be following for a month, I get all my food sent to me and just add fruit and veg. I also get weekends off, which will be really nice. I shall update you with my progress each week, in the meantime here is a picture of my meals from today and the third instalment in my journey.
Disclosure – I have been sent my products free of charge in exchange for my honest review.
